📞 How Eva stopped getting nervous on calls! 📞

🙌 “This week, I realized I don’t get nervous on calls anymore!”

Meet Eva - an engineer from Argentina, living in Australia since 2019. When we started working together she had only recently returned to working in her professional field.

She completed my Pronunciation + Communication Course for Spanish-speaking professionals 👩‍🎓

When Eva joined, phone calls made her feel:

👉 Stressed and under pressure
👉 Unsure about her vocabulary
👉 Worried her pronunciation wasn’t clear
👉 Not confident in her English

But after only 6 weeks of coaching, something clicked:

✅ She fixed her key pronunciation issues
✅ Learned the vocabulary to speak clearly and confidently
✅ Got weekly feedback to improve her grammar and expression

And the best part?

🙌 She finally made several phone calls - zero nerves.
🙌 First time in over a year she felt calm and confident!

Eva’s commitment paid off. I’m so proud of her progress and excited for what’s ahead in her career in Australia 🇦🇺

✈️ Why I Don’t Live in Latin America (for now)

This was me last year—on my way from London to Bangkok.

And yes… I left my laptop on the train (classic me 🙈).

Luckily, someone handed it into lost property, and I got it back within an hour. Huge relief!

But that small experience reminded me of something much bigger:

👉 Why I live in Thailand today, and not Latin America.

From 2017–2019, I lived and travelled all over Latin America.

🌎 I learned Spanish.
💃 I fell in love with the culture.
🤝 I built friendships that still matter to me today.

That’s also why I now work with Spanish-speaking professionals—it keeps me connected to that world.

So why did I decide not to stay there?

Here’s the truth: Safety.

In Thailand 🇹🇭

✅ I don’t worry about walking alone at night.
✅ I don’t worry about holding my phone in my hand.
✅ I don’t worry about my laptop being stolen if I forget it somewhere.

In Latin America, unfortunately, I did worry.

Luckily, nothing serious ever happened to me, but I never felt 100% relaxed, especially at night.

And honestly, if I had lost my laptop there, I doubt I’d have seen it again.

Living in the UK or Australia feels like an in-between:

✔️ Safe enough not to think about it daily.
❌ But the cost of living makes it tough!

Thailand, for now, gives me the balance I want—affordable living, tropical beauty, and peace of mind.

Do I miss Latin America? Absolutely.

Do I hope things improve so I can live there again one day? Definitely.

🌍 How about you:

Why did you leave Latin America?

Do you feel safe where you live now?

Are you stuck using the same words in English? 🤔

If you’re a Spanish speaker living in Australia 🇦🇺 and your English conversations feel a bit… repetitive, you’re not alone.

Most learners hit that “vocab wall” where every sentence starts to sound the same. But here's the good news: you don’t need hundreds of new words — just a few smarter strategies.

🌟 Try these 8 practical ways to upgrade your English vocabulary while living Down Under:

1. Read Smart 📚

Pick up books, news articles, or blogs on topics you enjoy. It’s easier to remember words you actually care about.

2. Watch + Listen 🎧

Aussie TV shows, podcasts, and movies are goldmines. Pay attention to how people speak, especially slang and casual phrases.

3. Use the Right Apps 📱

Duolingo, Memrise, Anki — they work if you actually use them. Look for vocab decks made for Spanish speakers.

4. Join the Locals 👫

Clubs, meetups, or hobby groups give you a safe space to use real English — not textbook stuff. Real people, real words.

5. Keep a Word Log 📝

Write down new words, but go one step further — use them in your own sentences the same day.

6. Speak Daily 🗣️

Whether it’s the café, gym, or your job — say something in English every day. Perfection is optional. Practice is not.

7. 1 Word a Day 📅

Just one. Make it useful. Use it three times. Done.

8. Stick With It 💪

It’s not about being perfect. It’s about being persistent. Every word you learn is one more tool in your toolbox.

🧠 Want one tiny shift that makes your English clearer in meetings — instantly?

📌 Try this: Slow down only when you say the most important words in your sentence. These are what I call anchor words.

Why? Because:

✅ Native speakers listen for them first.

✅ They carry the core meaning of what you’re saying.

✅ They help your ideas land with impact, not just get heard.

🔊 Example:

“I think the BIGGEST RISK is launching BEFORE testing”

👉 If you rush that, it blurs together.

Now try it again, but slow slightly on the HIGHLIGHTED words.

That subtle pause gives the listener a chance to grab on to your meaning.

These are your verbal anchors. They hold the idea steady - even if your accent or fluency varies.

I've coached dozens of professionals on this single habit.

It’s one of the fastest upgrades you can make.

And soon, I’m launching a new monthly membership to help Spanish-speaking leaders master this - and dozens of other clarity techniques that build confidence, authority, and career growth.

❌ No grammar drills.
❌ No fake native accent goals.
✅ Just small, strategic changes that shift how people respond to you.

🇨🇴 Even Sofia Vergara makes common pronunciation mistakes at work in "Modern Family"

In one hilarious scene, Sofia Vergara (as Gloria) mispronounces these three words:

❌ Love
❌ Country
❌ Company

She says them with an “O” sound, like in Spanish.
But in English, they all use the ʌ sound, like in:

🟢 Up
or
🟢 Under

✅ /lʌv/ – not lohv
✅ /ˈkʌntri/ – not con-tree
✅ /ˈkʌmpəni/ – not com-pa-nee

🎯 This sound can be tricky because it doesn’t exist in Spanish.
But it’s essential if you want to sound more natural and be clearly understood in meetings, interviews, and everyday conversations.

🧠 Want to improve your English pronunciation and stop making these common mistakes?

🎯 That’s exactly what I help Spanish-speaking professionals with — so you can sound more confident and natural at work.

Why Do We Celebrate English Speakers Learning Another Language but Criticize Immigrants Learning English? 🤔🌎

If an English speaker says hola 🇪🇸 or merci 🇫🇷, people cheer them on: "Wow! You're so good at languages!" 🎉👏

But when a Latino or another immigrant speaks English with an accent, they’re often met with impatience, condescension, or even ridicule. 😕🚫

Why the double standard? 🤨

Non-native English speakers are expected to be flawless, while English speakers are praised for making the smallest effort. This mindset doesn’t just discourage language learners—it reinforces the idea that some accents are more “acceptable” than others.

Here’s the truth: Speaking more than one language is a strength 💪 no matter where you come from or how perfect your pronunciation is. The courage to communicate in a second language should be recognized and respected equally.

Instead of criticizing, let’s encourage. ✅ Instead of dismissing, let’s listen. 👂💬

Have you noticed this double standard? What’s been your experience? Drop your thoughts below! ⬇️

🌟 I finally got my Irish Citizenship and Passport! 🌟

It’s taken 5 years of waiting, but I finally received the documents 🎉

I know many of you are or have been in the same position waiting for Permanent Residency or other kinds of visa 🕰️

The reason I applied for it was to become a European Union citizen so I can travel, work, or live in Europe in the future more easily. 🌍

I don’t plan to move to Ireland, but I may move back to Spain in the future. 🇪🇸

I applied for the Irish passport through my grandparents, who are Irish. It should have been straightforward, but as many of you know - when it comes to government documents - it’s always more complicated than it should be. 📜

I applied for citizenship twice and the passport was delayed by a month. 🗓️

For many of my clients living in Australia and the UK, the situation can be so much more complicated and stressful. 😓

Getting Permanent Residency can be like a mountain that just gets higher and higher. But don’t give up. The view from the top will be worth it. 🏔️

Wishing you all the best in your visa journeys! 🌠

I’d love to hear –

How has your experience of applying for visas and passports been?

🌏 Please share any tips for people planning to apply for a PR in Australia 💡

How Fabi, from Peru, became Confident Speaking English

My client Fabi, an Industrial Engineer from Peru, had the following issues that most Spanish-speaking professionals living in Australia struggle with 👇

📍 People often asked her to repeat, especially her name

📍She didn’t know how to pronounce difficult words so avoided using them

📍She had a lack of confidence in speaking, especially on the phone

She was frustrated with not progressing in her English after years of living in Australia

However, Fabi took action!

So she reached out to me to help get her English pronunciation to the next level.

She made awesome progress from day 1!

She had an amazing, positive attitude and worked consistently to improve over the course.

She learned how to correct the main mistakes that Spanish-speakers make in English

After the course she

💪 Felt more confident in her English pronunciation and communication skills

💪 Identified the most important areas for her to work on.

💪 Had the necessary tools to continue developing her skills

Congratulations Fabi! You are a really committed, hard worker and you will go far!

If you improve your English Pronunciation and Communication Skills like Fabi did you will:

- Speak with clear, neutral and natural pronunciation

- Feel more relaxed when speaking at work and in social situations.
