🦖🌿 Welcome to our Dino World! 🌿🦕
Our Joeys and Possums have been showing a continuous fascination and interest in dinosaurs, so their educators have extended on this emerging interest by creating a wonderful Dino World small-world experience in our outdoor environment! 🦕🌱
Using natural resources such as rocks, bark, sticks, leaves, sand and greenery, the children were invited to explore a prehistoric world filled with opportunities for curiosity, imagination and discovery. 🌿🪨
Small-world play encourages children to use their imaginations, creativity and language as they create stories, explore different scenarios and engage in meaningful social play with their peers.
As the children investigated the dinosaurs within their natural environment, they were also developing their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, problem-solving abilities and concentration through manipulating, moving and arranging the resources.
This experience also supports children to build on their knowledge of the natural world, make connections, ask questions and develop a deeper understanding of living things, environments and the world around them. 🦖🔎

This experience supports Outcome 4 – Children are confident and involved learners, as children demonstrate curiosity, resourcefulness, imagination and problem-solving while exploring their dinosaur world.
It also connects with Outcome 5 – Children are effective communicators, as children use language, storytelling and shared play to communicate their ideas, theories and discoveries with educators and friends.
Through this child-led experience, our educators continue to follow the children’s interests, extend their learning and create meaningful opportunities for exploration and discovery. ❤️🦕🌿
