This week at our centre we are recognising National Reconciliation Week through a variety of meaningful experiences and learning opportunities with the children. ❤️💛🖤
Through storytelling, art, sensory play, music, discussions, and creative activities, the children are learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and the importance of respect, inclusion, and connection.
These experiences not only strengthen the children’s understanding of reconciliation, but also support the development of many important skills including fine motor, sensory, cognitive, communication, and social skills. 🌿
We are proud to create opportunities for our children to learn, explore, and grow together while fostering respect for First Nations peoples and cultures.

Our outdoor sandpit setup sparked so much curiosity and imagination today 🦖🌿
The children continued exploring their growing interest in dinosaurs and the natural world, using natural materials to create their own prehistoric landscapes and small world adventures.
Adding cars, trucks, and diggers helped extend the play even further as the children transported materials, created construction sites, and worked together to build and explore 🚜⛏️
Through collaborative play, the children developed communication skills, problem-solving, creativity, and an understanding of the world around them.
EYLF Outcomes:
🌟 Outcome 1 – Children have a strong sense of identity
🌟 Outcome 2 – Children are connected with and contribute to their world
🌟 Outcome 4 – Children are confident and involved learners
🌟 Outcome 5 – Children are effective communicators

Little hands, big creativity ✨
Our process art adventure was all about exploring with tape, paint, brushes, and water 🎨
Watching the children experiment, create, and express themselves so freely was pure magic. Every splash, stroke, and peel of tape told its own story 🌈🖌️
Through this experience, the children developed confidence, creativity, problem-solving skills, and fine motor coordination while engaging in meaningful sensory exploration.

Our Joeys have been busy exploring a fun insect-themed sensory tray focused on number recognition 🐞🦋🐜
The children have shown a strong interest in learning about different types of insects recently, making this experience the perfect way to extend on their curiosity while also supporting their growing confidence with numbers. Through hands-on play, the Joeys were encouraged to count, recognise numbers, and match insects as they explored the sensory materials.
It has been wonderful to watch the children challenge their thinking, build on their knowledge, and engage in meaningful learning through play 🌿✨
EYLF Outcomes:
• Outcome 4.1 – Children develop dispositions for learning such as curiosity, cooperation, confidence, creativity, commitment, enthusiasm, persistence, imagination and reflexivity.
• Outcome 4.2 – Children develop a range of skills and processes such as problem solving, inquiry, experimentation, hypothesising, researching and investigating.
• Outcome 5.1 – Children interact verbally and non-verbally with others for a range of purposes.
• Outcome 5.4 – Children begin to understand how symbols and pattern systems work, including early numeracy concepts.

Our Koalas and Wombats set off on a special excursion to visit a neighbouring beehive, where beekeeper Kris gave us a fascinating glimpse into the world of bees. The children were captivated as they observed the bees up close and asked thoughtful questions about how they live and work.
Having shown such a strong interest in bees, this hands-on experience was the perfect opportunity to deepen their understanding of just how important these tiny pollinators are. What an unforgettable way to extend their learning and curiosity! 💛🍯
✨ EYLF Learning Outcomes:
• Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world – developing an appreciation for living things and the environment.
• Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners – exploring, investigating, and asking questions to build knowledge.
• Outcome 5: Children are effective communicators – engaging in meaningful conversations and expressing their ideas and wonderings.

Last week in our balcony room, the children spent time creating beautiful 3D poppies in preparation for Anzac Day.
As they created, we talked about the meaning of Anzac Day and why it’s so important to remember those who served and sacrificed. The children carefully coloured, cut, and folded each piece, showing patience, focus, and respect throughout the process.
It was a thoughtful and meaningful activity, helping them connect creativity with remembrance. ❤️
Lest we forget.
