Hi everyone! I am super excited to be organising activities for our unit's first camp which we will be attending with other districts. I want to do my team proud and as it's my first camp as a leader, I'd love for you to spam me with your successful activities for ages 10-13. Thanks, sisters! πŸ’›

Designed up these little duty reminders for the girls to help them keep in task and remember what they need to do each night. Many people are visual learners or have a hard time remembering sequences so an aid (which will be attached inside the patrol box) is a great resource.

edit: wow, i didn't realise it would be so popular. I'll have to upload on the website but until then please just email me at [email protected] and I'll forward you on a copy.

With day on 6 March, I have created a quick little chart for Guides to use if they would like to enter their face mask count into the citizen science project. Tag me if you use it so I can see their hard work! 😍

We thought our local aged care residents shouldn't miss out on the Spoonville neighbourhood fun during lockdown so our girls took a town to them. My daughter and I delivered it to them last week and they were so appreciative and marvelled over the creations.

What would you say?

What would you tell your teen self if you could go back in time? What does a teen in your life need to know?

Positive self talk is powerful!

🎭 Who's been working on the Lego Challenge? We did our final one last night which was the Andrea Performance Challenge. 🎭

With lockdown I had to get super creative about how the girls could do this challenge virtually as a team. A former thespian myself, it was important for me to also have the girls understand how many different aspects there are to putting on a production. Using a slide presentation the girls learned how many people are involved from the director, lighting crew and box office, etc!

I gave the girls the challenge of joining part of a production team to develop what was needed to host an imaginary musical titled "It's No Big Dill." (Yes, I was inspired when gardening, 🀣 ) All they had to build from was the character of a farmer and dill.

In breakout rooms via zoom the girls were split into these team:
1. Marketing (billboard design)
2. Costume Design
3. Script (storyline)
4. Musical performance

All came up with their own concept based on the title and then shared as a whole. What clever and comedic ideas they churned out; from a dog that turns green from eating too much dill to a fashionista bell bottom boy who doesn't want to be a farmer like his mum. One team used Canva to create a billboard poster. We even had a trumpet and sax duet for the theme song!

It was lots of fun and created many laughs!

🌸Who else loves all the nature art popping up this lockdown in the neighbourhood? A great challenge for Guides and Scouts to get them outside during online learning. 🌿

πŸΈπŸ“£ Your Guides can help with Citizen Science to save our frogs!

Help everyone. If you haven't heard, our Australian frog population is experiencing a mass die off at an incredible rate in the eastern part of our country. Eastern NSW and Southern QLD are reporting the most cases. The culprit is a highly contagious chytrid fungus. Dr. Jodi Rowley a herpetologist and founder of at the Australian Museum, and her team need our help to track frog calls. Simply download the FrogID app and get recording! Also send any photos of dead frogs you find to the museum.

This is an excellent opportunity for Guides to advocate awareness of a cause that is so important to our ecosystems. I encourage you to watch the webinar found on their website to better understand the circumstances and how you can help in your state as cases are popping up nationally.
