Meet our learn and laugh Five dock team 🤍
A little throwback to when our educators were just little themselves!
Behind every day at Learn & Laugh Five Dock is a team you can truly trust- a group of caring, patient, and passionate people who show up for the children every single day.
In early childhood, the team around your child means everything, and we are so proud to say we have the most genuine, supportive, and amazing educators here at Five Dock.
Once little, now the ones helping little ones grow ✨

For reconciliation week, we engaged in meaningful learning experiences that deepened our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. Throughout this week we explored, learnt, listened and understood. The senior preschool group set off on their own “walkabout” experience and even chose to sleep outside, fostering a deeper connection with Country.
Across the centre, we collaborated on shared art projects, symbolising unity and storytelling. The junior children created their own cave space, decorating it with symbols that told their personal stories — an exploration of self-expression and early understanding of the importance of cultural stories and connection to place.
Our learning focused on community, respect, and teamwork. We had thoughtful discussions about what reconciliation means and why it’s important for all Australians. Our senior children began expressing their understanding of the need to care for the land, acknowledging the Wangal people as the Traditional Custodians of the land we learn and play on.
Through these experiences, children are beginning to build a meaningful connection to Country, culture, and community. It was a powerful and respectful way to begin exploring the rich histories, knowledge systems, and continuing cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Our collaborative artwork has been an exciting and meaningful project. We began by repurposing an old canvas as part of our commitment to recycling. Inspired by Dreamtime stories, we worked together as a team to decide what message we wanted our artwork to share. We chose to display the words ‘Bujari Gamarruwa’ (Welcome/Good Day in Gadigal) as a greeting, and we also included the Warnayarra, the Rainbow Snake, along with various symbols reflecting our recent learnings. We have continued to build on this artwork by creating a mosaic tile collage, using a range of colourful mosaics to form images such as the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags. The collage also includes symbols, further linking our artwork to our exploration of cultural connections
This is still a work in progress but we are loving how it is looking already 👷🔨🧱
