Just a reminder to all our families that we will be closed for the ANZAC Day long weekend.

This time is an important opportunity to reflect, remember, and spend time with loved ones. We hope everyone has a safe and meaningful long weekend.

We look forward to welcoming all our children back when we reopen 💛

🌍 HARMONY DAY at WRELS 🌍

Today we celebrated Harmony Day in the most delicious way 🍪🥨🍝🥟🍣🥐🌯🫕

Our space was filled with an amazing assortment of foods from around the world, each dish telling a story of culture, tradition, and family. From sweet treats to savory favourites, it was a beautiful reminder of how food brings us all together.

Families also took part in adding their country of origin to our world map, creating a colourful display of the diverse backgrounds that make up our community. Seeing the map come to life was such a special moment ❤️

Days like today remind us that no matter where we come from, we all belong.

📦Sustainability in Action 📦

Here at WRELS sustainability is a conscious choice in our program.

We intentionally repurpose our delivery packaging, breaking down boxes and transforming them into open-ended craft materials for the children.

This approach helps us reduce waste going to landfill while supporting creativity, problem-solving, and thoughtful use of resources.

Small decisions, meaningful impact 🌱

🌷Happy International Woman’s Day 🌷

Our sector is heavily dominated be females and as a fully females staffed service, I think this is an important date to acknowledge.

The responsibilities we carry as women, mothers, and carers. We are selfless and forever giving what we can to make those around us content.

🚨 MISSING BIRD – PLEASE HELP🚨

Our beautiful Green Cheek Conure named Tiki went missing at 7:00pm on 19/02 from West Ryde.

She is very loved and deeply missed. 💚

About Tiki:

• Green Cheek Conure (small parrot, green body with darker tail)
• Friendly but may be nervous outside
• May respond to her name “Tiki”
• Likely attracted to familiar voices or other birds

Where she may be:

Conures often don’t fly very far on the first night and may perch high in nearby trees, on balconies, rooftops, or powerlines. She may stay quiet out of fear. As she gets hungry, she may start calling out in the early morning or late afternoon.

Best times to search:

🌅 Early morning (sunrise)
🌇 Late afternoon to sunset

These are the times she’s most likely to call back or move around.

How to approach her:
• Stay calm and move slowly
• Speak softly and call her name
• Avoid sudden movements
• Do NOT chase her – this can scare her into flying further

If sighted, please keep eyes on her and contact us immediately.

💰 REWARD OFFERED FOR SAFE RETURN 💰

Please share this post to help bring Tiki home. We are devastated and just want our baby back.

If you have any information, please message or call 0412818612

Thank you so much for your help. 🙏💚

✨Team Meeting✨

This week we zoomed in on QA2, swapped updates, asked plenty of questions, and made sure we’re all moving in the same direction. Lots of good ideas, great energy, and a few lightbulb moments along the way 💡

Love seeing the team collaborate, laugh, and keep quality front and center. Productive, positive, and ready to roll into what’s next! Bring in 2026!

🌟 What an incredible two weeks!🌟

Our amazing team — together with the generous support of our families — rallied with heart and purpose to collect 136 toys for 🎁💛

This incredible effort shows what’s possible when our community comes together. As a thank-you, we were treated to the most delicious morning tea spread today, and it was such a lovely way to celebrate the kindness and commitment behind this achievement. ☕🍰

Most importantly, this experience truly highlights the power of collaboration between our service and the wider community, creating positive outcomes for children in need.

Thank you to everyone who contributed. Your generosity will bring smiles to so many little faces this season. 💫💙

🖐️ Hands of Hope 🖐️

We are excited to be starting Christmas celebrations this year by participating in the Hands of Hope Annual Christmas Toy Drive!

Over the next two weeks, we invite you to join us in supporting this meaningful initiative.

Hands of Hope is an Australian Charity, founded in 2017 to provide support to individuals and families facing physical or mental challenges during difficult times.

What began as a community-based group has grown into a registered charity dedicated to helping through donations to hospitals and rehabilitation centres.

To support our local communities and the Hands of Hope Drive, we are collecting new toys for babies to 6 years old, that will be distributed to local community hospitals, helping to bring joy to children in need during the holiday period and beyond.

Donation Details:
• Collection Start Date: Monday 24 November 2025
• Collection End Date: Friday 5 December 2025
• Where to donate: A toy donation collection point will be set up next to the Christmas Tree in the service foyer of West Ryde Early Learning Centre

Our Goal Last year our target was 4000 resources, and we donated around 4257 resources. Thank you to everyone who participated last year this is such a great result!

This year our goal is to reach a target of 5000 resources to donate to hospitals across New South Wales.

Toys do not need to be wrapped, and every toy donation, no matter how big or small, is greatly appreciated.

Your generosity will help make a difference in the lives of many children this holiday season. 🎄
