Have you ever noticed that your child copies things they see you do?
Let’s take a look into Albert Bandura’s Social Learning theory. In this theory Bandura emphasizes the importance of observing, modelling, and imitating the behaviours, attitudes, and emotional reactions of others. After performing the ‘Bobo doll’ experiment he observed that children paid attention to what the people were doing (models) within the room and then repeated their behaviour. At a later time they may imitate (i.e., copy) the behaviour they have observed.
So just remember that even when you don’t think your child is watching they are always observing how you behave to learn how to behave themselves.
