Earthrise.

On Christmas Eve of 1968, the Apollo 8 crew photographed Earth rising over the lunar surface as they orbited the Moon.

“We came all this way to explore the Moon, and the most important thing is that we discovered the Earth,” said William Anders, who snapped this iconic image that would become known as Earthrise. https://go.nasa.gov/3PQwdbr

Bali bombings hero Fiona Wood: the next frontier in burns treatment 30/09/2022

Professor Fiona Wood OAM, is an amazing high achieving medical scientist for Australia.

Based in Perth, she is a scientist who had spent years – mostly at night, while her six children were asleep – working on a new technology to treat burns. After Bali, her revolutionary “spray-on skin” – using a patient’s own skin cells sprayed on to the wound to form a new top layer of skin – came suddenly to public attention.

She is now involved in collaborative research into 3D Bioprinting of dermis tissue grafts, for deep tissue healing of severe burn victims.

Read some more about her today, in a feature article on Prof. Wood in the SMH's Good Weekend Magazine

Bali bombings hero Fiona Wood: the next frontier in burns treatment Her spray-on skin made her a household name after the Bali bombings. Today, plastic surgeon Fiona Wood remains at the vanguard of cutting-edge burns treatments.

So many changes when changing our head of state.
Apart from our one-off public holiday on Thursday week (22nd September) these things too are supposed to change:

+ King Charles' head will begin to replace Elizabeth's on our coins
+ Barrister's renamed from QC's (Queen's Counsel) to King's Counsel

Will they introduce a senior level for barristers, the King's Fraternal Counsel...
or KFC ?

Just askin' questions

Sydney’s wealthiest suburbs claim the most HSC disability provisions 08/09/2022

Hmmm. Some careful journalistic tiptoeing in this piece...
The socio-educational advantage divide has been well-known for decades, reflected in both private-public and selective-comprehensive comparisons.

Could it be as simple as: Those with advantages and resources are best placed to take advantage of the system's benefits?

I dont believe any of this "the times are more anxious, so more claims warranted" nonsense. If that were real, then the rise in special provisions claims would be across all school sectors and Sydney suburbs.
But it ain't.

Sydney’s wealthiest suburbs claim the most HSC disability provisions Schools in Sydney’s north and east claim almost double the disability provisions than those in the west, and nearly 20 per cent of private school students apply.
