Just like Punch, children in the early years find comfort in soft toys and objects. The mix of textures and shapes help to practice reaching, grasping and exploring their world.

The NSW Department of Education’s learning through play resources highlight simple items such as stuffed toys, soft blocks and balls as powerful tools for sensory and motor development at home.

After our yarning circle songs, the educator gathered the children to read a story together. This calm transition supported listening and comprehension, encouraged meaningful discussions, and allowed the children to reflect on the themes shared during yarning circle while enjoying a moment of connection and learning through storytelling.
