Parents/Guardians, learning and consolidating spelling rules in a fun way does not need to be complicated - BANANAGRAMS is an awesome resource and widely available online!

1 activity split into 3 parts - What spelling rule is your child learning at school? Can they explain each rule verbally to you and then make their own word puzzle.

Part 1 - Ask then to explain/discuss the rule behind the spelling. For example this rule is when a word ends in ’y’ and has a consonant before the ‘y’ we will 👊 out the ‘y’ and add the suffix ‘ies’ to make it plural

Part 2 - Can you write me sentences using the words from your word puzzle?

Part 3 - Discussion time! Open questions 💡- Can you think of any other words which are plural? How does their suffix differ? Can you look at other word with the same suffix, can you think of what the spelling rule might be?

Meet Hannah!

Hannah is a kind, creative, hardworking individual with a warm personality. Not only has Hannah had experience teaching from Early Years - Year 7, but she has also been Head of English and Music across two schools. She believes in a creative philosophy where children can be curious and excited to gain new skills, explore, ask questions and learn through discovery. This is how Hannah believes a love for learning begins!

School is a busy, exciting, structured safe place. Children like routine and consistency. This is an uncertain time for not just us, but for all our little people too!

I am an experienced, passionate teacher with a wealth of knowledge. My services include online (+ face2face) tutoring, online lessons including an introduction/new concept teaching segment, task setting, discussion opportunities, self assessment and a plenary. I also provide task setting with am + pm check in with opportunities to discuss learning, play games, role play.

In addition, I offer support and guidance to parents/guardians who are homeschooling their little humans. I will provide you with the knowledge and skills on how to structure a school day, set meaningful and challenging tasks to keep your child learning and in a positive head space!
