YEAR 5 | Building bridges, one story at a time 📖
Through our Buddy Reading Program, our Year 5 boys have spent May and June visiting three local preschools right here in the Mosman local community. They have been acting as caring, encouraging mentors, which is a powerful way to provide a nurturing school readiness experience for these preschool learners.
These partnerships mean the world to us. They allow us to support early childhood education in our local area while teaching our older boys the true value of empathy, student leadership, and community service.
A massive thank you to the incredible preschools and their staff who have welcomed our boys into their classrooms, this program wouldn't be possible without your support! Also, a huge shoutout to our incredible Year 5 teachers! Your dedication and commitment is what makes programs like this a reality for our boys.
Round two of this wonderful mentorship program is already locked in for Term 3!

LEADERSHIP | Inspiring Future Leaders at NSW Parliament House
Last Thursday, our Year 6 School Captains, Luke and Sebastian, stepped into the heart of democracy for an incredible morning of learning and leadership at NSW Parliament House.
Hosted by the Member for North Shore, Felicity Wilson MP, Luke and Sebastian joined student leaders from several other local schools to get a firsthand look at how government works.
Highlights of the Day:
✅Behind-the-Scenes Access: The morning kicked off in the Opposition Party Room, where students enjoyed morning tea with the Electorate team and chatted about what it truly means to be a leader.
✅Live Question Time: The group headed up to the Gallery to watch a live Question Time session in the Legislative Assembly. It was a front-row seat to real political debate and democracy in action!
It was a fantastic opportunity for our captains to connect with other school leaders, ask great questions, and see the impact of leadership on a community scale.
We are incredibly proud of Luke and Sebastian for representing our school with such pride, maturity, and curiosity.
A huge thank you to Felicity Wilson MP and her team for hosting such an inspiring, memorable, and educational morning for the next generation of leaders! 🙌

SPORT | A Massive Milestone at the Primary CIS Golf Trials! 🏌️♂️
Huge congratulations to James T (Year 4) and Jayden T (Year 6) on stepping up for the Primary CIS Golf Trials!
This was a massive milestone and a completely new experience for both boys. Previously playing 9-hole JOM events from the junior tees made the CIS Trials their very first official 18-hole tournament!
Both boys handled the pressure of the CIS Trials so well especially walking the full 18 holes, staying focused, and pushing through the physical challenge. Tackling this tournament was a huge achievement! ❤️💪
It was also very motivating for both boys to be able to watch some of the best primary school golfers in the state. Seeing that level of play firsthand has given them a whole new benchmark and something exciting to work towards! 🏔️✨
Well done James and Jayden!

GIFTED EDUCATION | An Outstanding Achievement at the da Vinci Decathlon 🏆
We are incredibly proud to celebrate a remarkable achievement by a select group of our Year 5 and 6 students. Recently, a team of eight boys from Mosman Preparatory School travelled to Knox Grammar School to compete in the prestigious da Vinci Decathlon.
The event is a rigorous academic competition, drawing 157 teams of high-achieving students from across the state. Over the course of the day, teams are tested across 10 diverse disciplines, including Mathematics, Science, English, Cartography, Code Breaking, Art and Poetry, Creative Producers, Ideation, Legacy, and Engineering.
This year’s theme, ‘Machines and Mechanics’, required extensive preparation. During Term 1 Challenge classes, the boys deeply explored the mechanics of the six simple machines. Their preparation included a complex task: designing a machine that combined three simple mechanisms to transport a snack over 1.5 meters, meeting strict criteria. The students drafted prototypes, justified their design choices, and continuously tested and refined their ideas through multiple iterations.
Their dedication, perseverance, and teamwork culminated in an extraordinary result. For a school of our size to compete against the largest cohorts in the state is an honour and our boys exceeded all expectations:
🥇 First Place in Engineering 🥇 Tied First Place in Code Breaking
The team returned to school with certificates, immense pride, and well-earned smiles. To achieve top honours in two major categories on a state level is a testament to their hard work and intellectual curiosity.
Please join us in congratulating them on an outstanding performance. They have represented Mosman Prep with distinction! 🌟👏

AUCTION SPOTLIGHT: A Celebration of Creativity & Community
Inspired by Gustav Klimt’s 'Attersee', our Year 5 boys created two vibrant collaborative artworks exploring imagination, colour and identity.
Each student painted an individual panel inspired by a sea creature, shell, bird, plant or marine life they connected with most. These pieces were then brought together into two large-scale collage-style artworks celebrating both individuality and collaboration.
The project was supported by exhibiting artist Maggie Rosso, grandmother to Barnaby in Year 5, who assisted with the concept and preparation of the large canvases used for the works.
These unique pieces capture the creativity, spirit and energy of the boys themselves and will be auctioned at the Autumn Ball as a special snapshot of the Year 5 journey.
To bid on these or other items visit our online auction.

Bidding closes at 8.50Pm on 30 May 2026.
