YEAR 6 | A Canberra Trip to Remember!

Our Year 6 students had an incredible time on their recent Canberra visit and were exceptional ambassadors for our school. One of the highlights of this yearly pilgrimage to Canberra is connecting with peers from Canberra Grammar with some friendly competition in football and rugby.

The students also immersed themselves in learning, exploring everything from the legislative process at Parliament House to the interactive exhibits at the Australian Mint. Their itinerary included a visit to the Australian War Memorial and the National Gallery.

It was a truly memorable and impactful experience, and we were very proud of how the boys embraced every moment.

EDUCATION IN ACTION | Year 1 Caring for our Coastline

As part of recent learning about marine debris, Year 1 students took their learning beyond the classroom and down to Clifton Gardens for a hands-on beach clean-up. The boys have been exploring how waste can enter our waterways and the significant impact this can have on marine environments and the animals that call them home. They have also learned about the dangers of microplastics and considered the ways we can all make more sustainable choices to reduce waste and protect our oceans.

Students worked together to collect rubbish from the beach, carefully sorting and discussing the different types of waste they discovered. It was wonderful to see them putting their learning into action and demonstrating that even small actions can make a big difference. The experience has encouraged them to think critically about how our everyday choices impact the world around us and we can all look for ways to care for and protect our precious waterways.

Taking care of our shared environment strengthens the entire community. When we teach young learners to value and protect local spaces, we build a stronger, more connected, and responsible community for everyone.

CHALLENGE | Interschools Chess Tournament Success!

Last Thursday, 30th July, nine of our Senior Primary students participated in the Sydney Academy of Chess interschools’ tournament at Mona Vale Public School.

The boys played 7 games of chess each. They performed strongly, ending up in 3rd place overall.

This strong accomplishment qualified the team for the semi-final event later in August, in which 5 of our players will participate. Congratulations to all the players. A special ‘Well done’ to Ben W who came 3rd individually in the tournament overall.

Thank you to their chess coach, Michael Todd, for his continued efforts in coaching the team. We wish the boys all the best in their next round.

EE and KINDY | Celebrating 100 Days of Learning

Our Kindergarten and Early Entry boys recently celebrated a big milestone: 100 days of school.

To mark the occasion, the students spent the day at our Terrey Hills campus participating in hands-on activities centered around the number 100. Dressed up as 100-year-olds, they explored the bushland on a nature scavenger hunt, created cookie and trail mix treats in the kitchen, built creative crafts, and tackled a ten-by-ten obstacle course on the oval.

Beyond the fun and dressing up, this milestone reflects a significant period of academic progress, the building of strong friendships, and the confidence that comes with mastering new daily school routines. It highlights just how far the boys have come in their educational journey and sets a positive foundation for the rest of the year.

A special thank you goes to the parent volunteers who helped make the day so memorable for our students.

SCIENCE | Year 5 get hands on with the Crazy Scientist

Year 5 had a fantastic time welcoming the Crazy Scientist for a hands-on workshop on mechanical circuits. Working with a variety of components, the boys experimented with building different types of circuits and discovered some surprising results along the way.

One of the biggest highlights was testing how electricity flows through materials like Play Doh, and watching what happened when the circuit was broken by cutting the dough in half. To wrap up the day, everyone built their own Scribble Bot. It was a great experience that gave the boys a solid foundation for their upcoming electricity project at home.

Here is what the students had to say:

"It was probably like the best incursion we’ve ever had at Mosman Prep." - Charlie
"I agree!" - Thomas
"Fun, exhilarating and gained lots of useful knowledge." - Leon
"CRAZY fun and interesting." - Dennis
"I found a skill that I never knew I had." - Ted

WELCOME TO TERM 3 | Year 2 Science at Terrey Hills
What a lovely way to kick off the new school term with a visit to our Terrey Hills Campus.

Our Year 2 boys began their new Science unit, Paddock to Plate, exploring how food travels from farm to table. The boys churned butter, blended smoothies, and learned about plant life cycles by planting carrot seeds in our garden. It was a wonderful day of hands-on discovery that sparked great curiosity about the natural world.
