It has been a deeply personal journey for me, and I know many of us have walked that path.
I remember when I first shared my dream of building an empire focused on helping women over 40โI saw the smirks and skeptical glances. People didnโt take me seriously. But I held onto that vision.
At the start of 2022, I faced one of the darkest moments of my life. Losing my beloved Mui Mui Cat felt like losing a piece of my heart. She had been my emotional anchor during my DV marriage, my light, my comfort, and my constant listener. Grieving her pulled me into deep sadness and depression that lasted two long years.
But in early 2024, I finally began to reclaim myself. A new job reminded me of my worthโthat I had skills, and that I could still make a difference. Thatโs when I joined the Yeah The Girls 40 Plus Australia group.
The group was growing rapidly, and the creator, HOPE, was overwhelmed by how much it required to maintain. I understood her challengesโbuilding and managing a healthy community is no easy task. I stepped in, offering to help, and she trusted me enough to hand over the reins.
I am so grateful to HOPE for giving me the chance to use the group to build this community. Although she is no longer the admin, I want to thank her from the bottom of my heart for putting her trust in me and letting me know what was necessary. Her belief in me made all the difference.
That opportunity gave me the chance to take ownership, and I officially registered the group as a business. I knew that if we were going to make a true impact, it needed to be run with intention, structure, and purpose.
It wasnโt just a casual online space anymoreโit became a serious community, built on planning and vision. My goal was to create a place where women over 40 could find support, education, and the resources they needed to thrive.
With those strategies in place, we grew from 4,000 members to an incredible 29K, and soon weโll be celebrating our 30K milestone.
Itโs been a tremendous journey, but not without its challenges. Iโve made mistakes, felt the burn of exhaustion, and learned tough lessons about conflict resolution.
But through it all, Iโve built an incredible team of moderatorsโamazing women who, like me, want to give back and support others. I cannot thank them enough for all the hard work they do behind the scenes.
Our vision is simple: to build a community where every woman over 40, regardless of her financial situation, can find expert advice, genuine support, and a safe space to connect. We are an educational platform that empowers women to do just that.
Because the truth is, too many women suffer in silence. They donโt have someone to turn to, they donโt know where to ask for help, and they need a place where they wonโt be judged.
In just nine months, Iโve seen how quickly women can tear each other down when thereโs no filter, no compassion. Itโs been painful to witness, but it has inspired me to do better.
We need to be kinder, more understanding, more compassionate. Itโs not a job for the faint-hearted. Some of the tantrums I see daily would make you think you were back in high schoolโor even kindergarten!
Nevertheless, we are making progress. I can see we are working together to reduce the feeling of loneliness.
Members are being supported. We see more smiles every day, thanks to the positivity we share. The laughter we create is a testament that we are on the right path.
When I first spoke about building this empire, I felt the doubt, saw the quiet laughs. But I didnโt let that stop me.
Now, look at what weโve built together. This community has flourished, and my dream is to turn it into a nonprofit that will support women for years to come.
Of course, not everyone sees the hard work it takes to keep this going. They donโt realize the investment it requires to make it sustainable.
Thatโs why weโve partnered with experts and business owners, ensuring that our community continues to thrive. This isnโt just about meโitโs about all of us coming together for something much bigger.
Life isnโt always fair, but we have the power to rewrite our own stories.
I was once a victim, but I made the choice to become a winner. Now, Iโm here to teach others how to do the same.
Thereโs no greater joy than watching others succeed, and together, weโre turning this community into a household nameโa place where women know they can always find support.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey.
Each one of you is valued. Together, we are making a difference.
