Today is International Day of Sign Languages! 👋

At Mikarie, we believe in teaching children the value of inclusion from the very beginning. That’s why Key Word Sign is part of our everyday learning – helping kids communicate in ways that include everyone.

🎶 Our little learners have been busy singing in sign language – and it’s the cutest thing ever! Check out the video and see how we’re building understanding through play.

💛🟡🟨It’s Colour Week at Mikarie Playgroup 💛🟡🟨

Join us tomorrow as well look at all things yellow.

For our littlest learners, this will be sensory play with safe yellow household items like sponges and crinkle paper.

For the older kids we’ll be creating sun art with different yellow objects!

🐶🐭🐵It’s Animal Week at Mikarie Playgroup 🐶🐭🐵

Join us tomorrow as we discover the world of animals and nature.

For our littlest learners, this will be identifying different animals through cards and play and reading animal books.
For the older kids, we’ll feed pretend animals and create animal masks!

Mikarie Playgroup will now be held every Tuesday from 9:15am.

We understand that changes to routine can be disruptive, and we appreciate your flexibility. 🔵🔺🔶 It’s Shapes and Blocks Week at Supported Playgroup 🔵🔺🔶

Join us this Thursday for a fun and engaging discovery of shapes.

For our littlest leaners this means playing with shape-sorting toys and looking at black and white shape cards during tummy time.

For older kids this looks like painting with shape sponges while naming each shape, and matching cut-out shapes to trays or mats.

It’s Alphabet Week at Supported Playgroups!
Join us this Thursday for a fun and engaging exploration of letters.

For our littlest learners (under 1s), we’ll be playing Letter Peek-a-Book to introduce letters of the alphabet.
For older children, we’ll dive into alphabet playdough and letter sorting activities designed to help kids discover how letters work together in words.

Today at Mikarie Child Care Centre, our little learners helped us celebrate a very special milestone - our 14th birthday! 🎂🎈

We’re incredibly proud to have spent the past 14 years supporting children of all abilities in a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment. With the backing of our amazing community, we look forward to continuing this journey for many more years to come.

From fairy bread to decorating, pin the candle on the cake and much more, we’ve had a blast!
