Thankyou to the lovely ladies at âThe Hive Cafeâ on Bellingara Rd for having us. The children had their money and ordered their milkshakes at the counter. The children then had a play on the equipment and met some very lovely people from our community, including some elderly from the nursing home.

We aim to take our children out weekly to explore their wider community. Our park visits allow children to explore their immediate environment while promoting investigation and curiosity. Our children practice life skills such as road safety while we walk their together, interacting with their surroundings and strengthening relationships. Our children are confident and resilient beings.

An exciting visit from the firemen at Miranda Fire Station đ Our T4K children were so engaged during their fire safety demonstration where they learnt how to safely exit a fire and what to do if their clothes catch on fire. The firemen invited the children to spray the hose and investigate the fire truck. The children were able to explore our wider community and get a better understanding of the role that firefighters have.

We are developing the childrenâs sense of identity through intentional learning experiences. We set up 2 chairs on either side of the glass and offered some black paint along with thin paint brushes. The children were invited to observe their peer through the glass, and simply paint what they see. This sparked curiosity as they developed a positive sense of identity about themselves and their diverse peers. It was beautiful to observe conversations amongst the children as they commented on their peers unique features. âI like your short hair that sits on your faceâ âYou have big eyes that look kind of green and brown, I love themâ âYour face is different to mine, itâs easy to paintâ

đNAIDOC week continued
Our children had a special performance by Uncle Troy, who is Koori person. Uncle Troy combined dance, storytelling and music to teach our children and educators about our Nations first people. This was an interactive performance that had all our children and educators involved in dream time story telling. By embedding cultural learning, it can impart the wonder of Indigenous knowledge, and support Aboriginal childrenâs sense of identity and belonging, as well as promoting a culture of understanding and respect towards cultural diversity for all children.

đš NAIDOC week
Our children were given the opportunity to be inspired by indigenous art and interpret it and represent it through their creative piece.
Some of the childrenâs voices after looking at the art were, âswirly and colourfulâ, âitâs beautiful so it makes you feel happyâ and âit represents the earthâ. The children explored their own creativity and recreated their own pieces while developing and strengthening many of their skills. How beautiful are they!

đOne of our children has come in and expressed how scared and worried they have been feeling, because theyâve started to have nightmares. We talked about our feelings during group time and acknowledged how scary it feels to have these sorts of dreams. However, these dreams are made up by our minds and not real. We set up an experience for all the children to construct and decorate their own dream catches after watching a short illustrated film about the magic of a dream catcher. Our children felt safe, secure and supported while developing skills through this planned experience đ

đ± This week, our children continued their learning from Reconciliation week. They were curious about how paint was made and were given opportunities to make their own paint, using rocks and oil. The children strengthened their gross motor skills while grinding the rocks and particpated in this hands on experience which allows the children to further explore methods and ways of indigenous Australians. All this learning is taking place while engaging in something familiar to them, painting! đ±
