Today the kangaroos shared what their favourite parts of themselves are.

The kangaroo children created their very own self portraits! They used a black and white picture of themselves and colourful crayons to draw on top.

The kangaroos noticed that toothless was basking. “HI TOOTHLESS!” the friends all screamed with excitement. We watched toothless find a comfortable place to rest and to soak in some heat.

Our little Platypuses embraced the joy of New Year’s with a range of festive and sensory experiences that kept their creative and curious minds engaged.

The celebration began with the children eagerly selecting colourful crowns to wear. Many confidently admired themselves in the mirrors, exploring their sense of self and individuality. This activity provided an opportunity for the children to express their personal style and engage in imaginative play, strengthening their self-awareness and visual exploration.

The platypuses were all so in the art studio, as the children used watercolour paints to decorate pieces of paper with the phrase “Happy New Year 2025.”

This week the Kangaroos and Lizards have been learning about our country Australia. Together, we drew the outline of Australia, with some help from Mr AJ. Then, we highlighted the 6 Australian States and 2 major Territories.

All our friends took turns at naming the states and territories. They shared the cities around Australia that they have visited and where some of their family members live. We also learnt about North, South, East and West, in relation to how the states and territories were named. Some children even shared that Tasmania is where Tasmanian Devils are from!

As the educators conversed with the children, they discovered that the Kangaroos and Lizards have a strong interest in the country we call home. We can’t wait to hear what new facts they can share with us tomorrow!

The Lizards have been interested in our world, as a friend commented that England has a different time to Sydney, Australia! At group time we sat down to look at our globe and to research the times in different places.

Another peer very proudly told his friends that we all live in Australia, and was able to quickly and confidently point to it on the globe! England was a little trickier to find, but easy once James pointed out where Edinburgh was, since it was very close by to England. While a few other friends pointed out Italy and the USA, and Yamba!

This group time was a collaborative and informative one, where the children shared their ideas and own knowledge of the world around them!
