Tasks of Senior Electrical Assistant
A senior electrical assistant supports licensed electricians and engineers by leading prep work, guiding junior crew members, and managing advanced maintenance tasks. Their core duties involve hands-on site support, safety compliance, and routine diagnostic work
Mentoring: Training junior assistants and apprentices on proper tool handling and daily workflows.
Safety enforcement: Ensuring all tasks adhere to local electrical codes and safety laws like lockout-tagout.
Inventory oversight: Tracking materials, organizing site equipment, and logging completed maintenance work.
As an electrical assistant with experience and advanced training, the candidate can perform more complicated electrical tasks under the supervision of Licensed Electrician
Combination

Site Preparation and Installation Support
Reading blueprints: Interpreting complex wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical layouts.
Laying infrastructure: Measuring, cutting, bending conduit, and pulling heavy electrical cables.
Mounting hardware: Installing switchboards, junction boxes, panels, and light fixtures safely. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Maintenance and Troubleshooting
Fault finding: Using multimeters and testing instruments to check circuit continuity and locate errors.
Preventive care: Performing routine checks, cleaning panels, and tightening loose terminal connections.
System repairs: Replacing damaged wiring, faulty breakers, or worn-out mechanical parts under supervision.
Leadership and Safety

Training
Advanced Certificate in Electrical Assisting is mapped to CIII Electrotechnology Electrician but it is not a Nationally Recognised Training Course for Electrician Licensing
It is designed as Non Licensed Electrical Trade Person course as well as Engineering Technician course.

Course Duration
4 hrs/week x 64 weeks = 256 hrs plus self study online hours of three times face to face hours.
Course Fees
· Free for the students from the RTOs who are receiving the training by IQY Trainer
· $8000 can be paid in two instalments
Those who finished Certificate in Electrical Assisting course of 24 Weeks will need to pay $6000 and attend 48 weeks 192 hours.
