Surviving isn’t losing. Thriving isn’t the finish line. 🫶
I think a lot of content around thriving is pretty inaccurate. We move through both stages, in cycles. And a lot of the time, particularly if you’re multiply marginalised, the reasons you’re in survival mode aren’t personal, they’re systemic.
Disability justice has always known this: productivity, material success, and “thriving” were never a neutral measure. They were built around a neurotypical brain, in a body that isn’t yours, that doesn’t have your access needs, doesn’t carry the weight of ableism, racism, poverty, or any of the other things that decide who gets support and who gets left to mask through it alone.
If you’re neurodivergent and in survival mode, you’re not behind. You’re responding, rationally, to a world that was never built for how your brain or nervous system actually works. Send this to someone who needs this is a reminder today 🫶🌻
