Congratulations to RACDS Fellow Professor Peter Parashos AM, who was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in the 2026 King’s Birthday Honours, recognising his significant contributions and service to dentistry, particularly endodontology, and to tertiary education. He served as Chair and Professor of Endodontics at the University of Melbourne’s Melbourne Dental School from 2012 to 2021 and is an Honorary Life Member of both the American Association of Endodontists and the Australian Society of Endodontology. He was awarded Fellowship of the RACDS in 1990 by examination, and undertook further dedicated specialist education in Endodontics, and was awarded MRACDS(Endo) by assessment in 2008. We thank Professor Parashos for his outstanding contributions to our profession.
The RACDS would also like to congratulate Emeritus Professor Andrew John SPENCER AO awarded the Officer of the Order of Australia in the General Division for his distinguished service to dentistry, to public health research and policy development, to oral epidemiology, and to tertiary education. We also acknowledge Drs Peter Robert HILL OAM and Thomas Michael CONDON OAM, each awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in the General Division for their services to Dentistry, and Dr Lanny George Chor PSM awarded the Public Service Medal for outstanding public service to oral health service delivery in NSW.

Congratulations to Dr Tihema Nicol! 🎉
Tihema is the recipient of the 2026 First Nations Scholarship, which recognises Indigenous clinicians living in Oceania who are committed to improving oral health outcomes and advancing equitable care.
Tihema, who has Māori ancestry linked to Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Ngāti Whātua and Ngāpuhi iwi, has worked in both private and public sectors. She is currently completing a Master of Community Dentistry with a focus on improving care coordination for dental general anaesthetic patients.
The RACDS scholarship will support the progression of Tihema’s research and contribute to building more equitable and patient-centred models of care for Māori, Indigenous communities and populations experiencing inequities.

Congratulations to Dr Ruby Richardson! 🎉
Ruby is the recipient of this year's RACDS Future Leaders/Diversity Scholarship, supporting emerging dental professionals committed to leadership, research and improving patient care.
Currently studying medicine via the lateral entry pathway at Adelaide University, Ruby aspires to become an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and continue making a meaningful impact on patients during some of their most vulnerable moments.
The RACDS scholarship will support Ruby in undertaking courses in health economics to further her understanding of resource allocation in oral health and healthcare systems.
