PAW is proud to support this statement of demands from the Yuendumu community:
“Karrinjarla Muwajarri” We are Calling for an Indefinite Police Ceasefire.
There has been a lot of attention on our community of Yuendumu since NT Police Constable Zachary Rolfe shot and killed our loved one, Kumanjayi Walker, on 9 November 2019. We are grieving this injustice, and the injustice of Rolfe’s acquittal. Above all, we remember that Yapakurlangu Warnkaru Matters, Black Lives Matter.
We demand:
1. No guns in remote communities.
2. NT Police must be defunded at large.
3. Only Warlpiri governance and authority in our community.
4. An end to all discriminatory powers and laws that were introduced with the NT Intervention.
5. A restoration of laws and structures that respect our local community control.
6. That funding be redirected from punitive agencies to community-controlled services.
7. Kids on Country not in Custody.
8. We need a Black Media Watch to stop the racism in media reporting on our First Nations people.
9. Defamatory content about Kumanjayi Walker must be immediately withdrawn from publication.
10. PAW Media and Elders need to approve any media visits to Yuendumu and any media reporting must be accountable by coming back to our community.
11. Journalists need to work using a cultural safety framework, local protocols and trauma informed processes. They must listen to and act upon the cultural guidance of our community.
12. We want culturally safe mental health support for community members with trauma and PTSD. This support must be for the longer term and address our shared and individual PTSD.
13. An end to racism in NT courts.
14. A retrial for Zachary Rolfe in Alice Springs.
15. An independent investigation.
16. We want Rolfe to face our customary lore at Yuendumu.
We are calling for a National Day of Action on June 18 to demand justice for Walker, justice for the many deaths of First Nations people in custody, an end to the discriminatory Intervention powers and reassertion of community control.
We want other First Nations families, communities and supporters to join us in protest, amplify our voices and put forward your own demands for justice. Let’s come out in big numbers and build collective power together to force change.

Vanessa Hickey and Dolly Talbott speak about the destruction mining companies have brought to Gomeroi Country and their fears about the Santos Pillaga (Narrabri) gas project, particularly its impact on water. Both women are calling for a NO vote at the Gomeroi Nation meeting happening in Tamworth and for non-Indigenous people to get behind the fight too:
"We need to stick together, we need to say NO to these gas and mining companies coming into our Country... We have an obligation to ourselves as Gomeroi people and everyone on the river system to look after them and look after what sustains life"

Bogaine Spearim speaks about the importance of Gomeroi resistance to the Santos coal-seam gas project and other mining developments on Gomeroi Country. Boe is speaking from the Gomeroi Nation meeting in Tamworth on March 23, 2022, calling for a NO vote to Santos' project. Santos are preparing to take Gomeroi to court and over-ride their Native Title rights to establish 850 coal-seam gas wells in the Pillaga forest.

Gomeroi man Raymond "Bubbly" Weatherall makes a strong statement outside the Gomeroi Nation meeting in Tamworth. Gomeroi are meeting to consider how to respond to moves by Santos to over-ride their Native Title rights to establish a massive coal-seam gas mining operation in the Pillaga forest. Bubbly is calling for a strong NO vote from the nation and solidarity from all non-Indigenous people, particularly trade unions, who should place a "green-ban" on the development and refuse to work on this destructive project.

Santos are trying to build 850 coal-seam gas wells on Gomeroi Country in the Pillaga. Gomeroi man Ian Brown speaks about the importance of the struggle against Santos' plans to build 850 coal-seam gas wells on Gomeroi Country in the Pillaga forest. These statements were made just prior to a Gomeroi Nation meeting which will vote on whether to enter into a deal with Santos or reject the gas plans outright. Gomeroi have led the fight against Santos for many years and now face hostile action in the Native Title Tribunal. If Gomeroi vote NO, Santos has a court application ready to over-ride Gomeroi Native Title rights and establish the project regardless. Both the Morrison and Perrottet government's are supporting Santos, part of the "gas-fired recovery" policy. Sign the petition against this injustice at gomeroingaarr.org

Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination – a day to think about how racism persists and how we can tackle it.
Today, we are launching a new project to monitor and expose all forms of racism and discrimination experienced by First Nations People in this country.
We want to encourage people to call out racism on the First Nations Racism Register, a national online reporting tool.
Developed by the Jumbunna Institute with support from the National Justice Project, Call it Out is designed to:
· Establish an Indigenous-led platform for reporting racism
· Help First Nations leaders and advocates to drive support and resourcing of Indigenous-led anti-racism activities
· Help us better understand the perpetrators, patterns and problem areas of racism
· Expose the nature and extent of racism and discrimination experienced by First Nations People in an annual report
Visit Call it Out to make a report (available 24 hours a day 365 days a year): www.callitout.com.au
