Banning smart watches. Longer risk assessments. More checks. Extra paperwork. All of these rapid changes that have been thrust upon the sector to keep children safe. Yet one of the biggest protective factors for children is having access to regulated, engaged and responsive educators.

I haven’t seen many reforms targeting this.

Where is the extra mental health support? Where is the collaboration on effective changes? Why aren’t we tackling the added stress and pressure impacting the very thing that can keep children safe.

Whilst some services make solid investments in their educators, the overarching pressure to meet regulations weighs heavy. Children under 5 are soaking up every intricate, non-verbal cue. Our tone of voice, our facial expression, our posture. What messages are we sending children when our autonomy is threatened, our experience is overlooked and our professionalism is on the line?

How are we supporting educators to be, become and belong in the sector today? I plead with policy makers and department executives to stop and consider the barrage of information, judgement and stress educators have felt in recent times. Whilst families deserve to confidently leave their child in care, educators deserve to feel safe and confident in receiving them.

Keeping children safe should never be in question but let’s not forget how this is best achieved. If educators don’t feel safe, how do they keep children safe?

This week we’re whirling, wiggling, and wow-ing our way through the wonderful world of W!

We’ll be talking about worms, wheels, whales, and anything else that makes us shout “WOW!”
Expect lots of wiggly writing, washable paint, and probably a little wildness… because honestly, with the letter W, how could we not?

Get ready for a week filled with wonder, wiggles, and warm fuzzy moments.

Remembrance Day at Preschool: Honoring and Reflecting Together

Today at 11am, our preschool came together for a special minute of silence to honor Remembrance Day—a simple but meaningful way to show respect for those who have served our country. This moment allowed our entire community to reflect on the significance of this important day.

We spoke with the children about why we remember, explaining that Remembrance Day is a time to reflect on the sacrifices made by the brave men and women who fought for our freedom and safety. Even though they are still learning and understanding, the children showed great respect and care, grasping the importance of recognizing their courage and the value of peace.

During our minute of silence, the children held their candles gently as symbols of remembrance and light. With soft eyes and quiet hearts, they paused to reflect on the sacrifices made by so many. It was a simple but powerful moment, reminding us all of the importance of kindness, peace, and the role we each play in creating a better world.

We are so proud of our preschoolers for their thoughtful participation. A heartfelt thank you to all who have served. Your sacrifices will never be forgotten.

🎃👻 Spooky Fun This Week! 👻🎃

Take a look at all the fun we’re having with our Halloween activities this week! Our little ghouls and goblins have been busy getting creative and playing spooky games galore. 🧡

🪵 Wooden Halloween Cut-Out Painting – Everyone got to paint their own wooden pumpkins, ghosts, and bats with bright Halloween colors. So much imagination and creativity on display!

🧁 Pumpkin Muffin Tray Painting – A fun, hands-on sensory activity that had everyone laughing and creating their own “pumpkin patch” masterpieces.

🕷️ Spider in the Web Game – Using tongs to rescue (or trap!) spiders from their sticky webs was a hit — great for those fine motor skills and Halloween giggles!

💀 Skeleton Hide and Seek – Our sneaky skeletons kept disappearing around the room, but our little detectives always managed to find them!

It’s been a week full of smiles, laughter, and Halloween spirit. 🎃✨

📣 LETTER OF THE WEEK: Tt! 🐢🍅🍵🦷

This week we’re totally thrilled to talk about the terrific, tricky, and sometimes ticklish Letter Tt!

Let’s take a moment to thank the letter T for giving us:

🍵 Tea – because adulting without it is a tragedy.
🐯 Tigers – nature’s way of saying “cats can go beast mode.”
🦷 Teeth – please brush them… seriously.
🐢 Turtles – the only animal that’s fashionably late and wears its house.
🎵 Tunes – because dancing silently is just exercise.
