Colour, movement and music in action – that's what the Queensland Youth Orchestras are giving us and exactly what we all need while we're stuck at home. Take a look at these gorgeous photos of the Queensland Youth Symphony under the baton of conductor Simon Hewett from their last public performance on 14 March. The orchestra was due to perform at Queensland Performing Arts Centre but, due to COVID-19 restrictions, ended up relocating to The Old Museum Concert Hall where they gave the concert to a closed audience of family and friends.
On this occasion we can not only point out the Goodear Acoustic Shields protecting the bassoon section from the exuberant array of percussion behind them, but also the fact that the orchestra is performing Rachmaninov's Symphonic Dances from materials published by Goodear Editions, Symphony Services Australia's publishing arm. Hope to see the QYS back in action before too long!
