FAQ: How long do I study each English level?

At IESC, you will complete 10 weeks of study at each level before you can progress.

Students can move up a class if:

⭕ They have completed 10 weeks of their English level;
⭕ They have 80% or higher attendance;
⭕ They have passed most of their Friday tests;
⭕ If their teacher believes they are ready to 'move up and the Director of Studies approves.

Our General English course has been designed for students who want to improve their ability to communicate in English in social and work settings.

General English is offered at 4 levels: Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate and Upper-Intermediate. At each level, you'll develop your listening, reading, writing and speaking skills.

General English enables students to:

🤗 Use English with greater confidence
👂 Develop the ability to understand conversations
📖 Read fiction and non-fiction texts
🗣️ Speak with increasing fluency

Interested in studying English for Academic Purposes (EAP)?

EAP is offered at 2 levels (EAP 1 and EAP 2) and is designed to prepare students for success in academic post-secondary courses and in the IELTS test. EAP develops students’ academic language and study skills.

EAP students will learn how to:

👂 Listen and take notes in lectures,
🧑‍🏫 Give oral presentations
🗣️ Contribute in group discussion
✍🏼 Write academic essays
📖 Read academic texts
