Harry's Fun with Flags

.of course we bought a flag!

Our dear friends travelled overseas, and upon return, they brought this wonderful flag from The Vatican for Harry's collection.

What a flag!
Whilst getting my hair done by Maram & Lily at Vivienne's Hair Salon, we were discussing Harry's love for countries and his collection of flags!
Well, Maryam came to the party, and she promised Harry a very special Iranian flag. And very special it is!

Whilst it's not currently the official flag of Iran, this flag is the overwhelmingly proposed Redesigned Flag for Iran.

The first official flag of Iran was originally adopted on 7 October 1907 with the Lion and Sun emblem. Following the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the Iranian flag was changed into its current form on 29 July 1980.

The Lion and Sun is one of the main emblems of Iran (Persia).
The lion and sun motif gained widespread popularity following the advent of Islam, appearing frequently on coins, metalwork, tiles, and miniature paintings throughout Iran, Central Asia & India.

Today, the Lion and Sun emblem, often with the crown and wheat wreath, as seen in this photo, is used by the Iranian diaspora, monarchists, and opposition groups as a symbol of pre-revolution Iranian identity, national pride, and resistance against the current government.
It is commonly seen on flags during protest movements.

Irada has had this flag for well over 20 years, and was eager to pass it over to Harry.
It's a flag by John Christian Vaughan the founder of Australiana Flags company.
Very special indeed

Interesting though, we've been to John Vaughan's flag shop 2 years ago, located in a nearby suburb at Northbridge.
He certainly knows all things flags and it's deep history.

Reminds me of when we were in Greece, swimming at the beach (with Turkey close by), and Harry stated that we're between 2 countries.. and 2 continents!! Made me laugh 😃
