Oh wow lets do it!

🦸🏻‍♀️National Superhero Week may be over, but you can keep celebrating with some super-powered leaping! Children can use their superhero energy to practice leaping with power and fun! Use capes, obstacle courses or action play to keep it exciting.

💡This is a fun way to link imaginative play with the fundamental movement skills!

Hey all Dear Parents!

🖱️It can be hard for families to manage screen time because technology and devices are part of our lives! Creating healthy habits can help families reach their screen time goals.

✅ Parents can support healthy screen time use by choosing content carefully, avoiding screen time at mealtimes, setting and following boundaries and having fun away from screens. To learn more about the screen time guidelines, go to: bit.ly/45HMkR8

This month our focus FMS practice : Leaping!

👟Let’s leap into September. Children leap by taking off from one foot and landing on the opposite foot. Leaping helps to build coordination, strength and confidence. You can help children learn to leap through play, obstacle courses and imaginative games!

Today’s Activity Reflection – Winter Apparel & Pretend Snow Play (Seasonal Clothing Concepts)

Today, we explored the concept of winter apparel and snow gear as part of our seasonal clothing unit. Although it doesn’t snow in our location, we engaged in a fun and imaginative session where children pretended to experience snow.

Everyone dressed up in winter gear, gaining a hands-on understanding of what kind of clothing is suitable for cold, snowy conditions. We drew a snowman on the board and used bean bags as pretend snowballs to "hit" it—bringing a lot of laughter and excitement. We also had rich discussions around how we might feel in real snow—numb fingers, cold noses, gusty wind, and what it’s like to play in snowy weather.

In addition to the sensory and imaginative aspects, we incorporated Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) by practising underarm and overarm throwing and catching using the bean bags. This not only reinforced physical coordination but made the entire experience more dynamic and memorable.

It was a lively and enjoyable session filled with creativity, laughter, and learning.

What a fun, we are going to do it today👍👌

❄ Throwing snowballs is a fun winter game to help children learn underarm throwing. You can draw, paint or print a large snowman and place it on a wall or fence at your service. Children line up behind a marker and throw balls, soft toys or scrunched up paper at the snowman. You can make the same harder by asking children to hit a target, like the carrot nose.

NAIDOC week post 3:
Our NAIDOC Week continuation
Each day began with an Acknowledgement of Country, and we celebrated culture through music, movement, and dance.
Country!
We visited an Aboriginal painting near our service titled “Family Values” by the local artist “Karen Maber”. It is part of our RAP to explore local Aboriginal arts and artists! Children learnt connections between people, place, emotions and spirituality through bold dot painting and hand motifs!

I had an oppurtunity to take up a session as part of NAIDOC week activities with all our service educators and the children, encouraging Distributed leadership!
We read the book : Rainbow Serpent, made serpents out of recycled cardboard and weaved using recycling cloth strips, raffia, wool and decorated it with gum nuts and other craft materials! All children loved the hands on activity and participated with enhanced curiosity and interactions👏👏
