The 2021 International Women's Day theme is

I was privileged to be raised and still supported by strong, resilient and courageous women - my mum, aunts, cousins and some bloody amazing friends, I am a product of my upbringing and environment.

For me, today is about recognising and celebrating the women in our lives who did not have the same opportunities us women today have.

Whether it was because of culture, socio-economics, or any other reason, many women made sacrifices but still strived and made every effort to ensure that their own daughters broke through the glass ceiling and paved the way for future generations of women to have and hold agency in their own right.

This year I fully intend to continue to smash that glass ceiling. Watch this space.

Today my colleague from and I attended the Linking Hearts Multicultural Family Service and The Culinary School collaboration launch.

Linking Hearts provides domestic violence and homelessness support to women and families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

I have beautiful memories as a child of attending their girls programs and camps, and as a social worker, services and initiatives like this is what makes my job that much easier and means that I can use a service I trust will do their utmost best to provide safety & security to families going through violence.
