Each Friday many students in the school leave at lunchtime to travel to PSSA competition. This allows the remaining students to enjoy the extra playground space, including our Kindergarten students who are able to roam beyond the K-2 playground. It is beautiful to see some senior students use this time to mentor our younger students. Austin has been carefully helping Henry improve his handball skills and making him feel welcome and confident in the larger playground.

Congratulations to our Library Leaders and Student Historian. You have been officially recognised for your contribution and commitment to reading, our library and our history. We look forward to seeing you officially share your love of books and history with the school community.

Lea and Lily have been selected for the Sydney East football team. Congratulations girls, we know you have worked hard to earn Zone representation.

Our Zone Cross Country team have a great reputation for trying their best and performing well. This year they upheld this reputation with courageous performances and many high places including three firsts from Ella, Jake and Liam. RLPS won the boys competition and the overall point score. Congratulations everyone. We are so proud of your efforts.

Congratulations to our debating teams who competed in Round 1 of the Premiers Debating Challenge against Haberfield Public School this week. The RLPS Bears won their debate speaking to the affirmative - We should ban all tests in Primary School. The RLPS Lions also won speaking to the negative - Schools should replace art and music classes with more maths and science.

We love it when Healthy Harold visits. He helps us understand how to look after ourselves and live happy and healthy lives.

Our K-2 playground is looking very colourful thanks to a NSW parliamentarian grant. Students are enjoying the games and activities available. Thank you Stephanie Di Pasqua MP for making this happen and our Russell Lea Public School Parents and Citizen's Association for applying for, and managing the grant process.

The Combined Schools Musical is an outstanding opportunity for students to perform in a large scale theatre production. Many of our students love the stage and this was clear with their amazing performances this year. Congratulations students.
