Ever wondered why some black-and-white photos stop you in your tracks while others just look like colour pictures with the colour drained out? It's not an accident. It's a completely different way of seeing.
Shadows, contrast, texture and light take centre stage when colour steps aside, and learning to see the world this way will change how you approach every photo you take, in black-and-white or colour.
Our Black & White Photography Workshop takes you from theory to practice in a single hands-on day. You'll explore high-key and low-key lighting, master your camera settings for monochrome, head out on location at Rozelle to capture real scenes, then learn to bring your images to life in Photoshop and Adobe Camera RAW using techniques like channel mixers, gradient maps and the twin hue/saturation method.
Guided by award-winning photographer Nic Van Oudtshoorn, past students describe the day as inspiring, generous and genuinely fun, leaving with new skills and a fresh creative eye.
