Helping AMEP learners take the next step in their health

AMEP students at Glen Eira Adult Learning Centre Inc recently took part in breast health information sessions delivered in partnership with Brest Screen Victoria.

Designed for CALD learners, the sessions combined clear visuals, interpreters, and practical guidance to build understanding and confidence around early screening.

Students actively encouraged one another to take part, and for some, it was their first experience of this kind of health service.

In total, 24 women signed up for a mammogram.

This National Volunteer Week, the Melbourne AMEP Volunteer Tutor Scheme would like to recognise and celebrate the incredible contribution of our volunteers.

Through every conversation, lesson, and moment of encouragement, our volunteer tutors help learners build confidence, improve their English skills, and feel more connected to their community.

Whether it’s helping someone prepare for a job interview, practise everyday conversations, or simply feel more confident navigating life in Australia, the impact of volunteering is massive.

If you’ve been thinking about ways to give back to the community, this is a meaningful opportunity to make a real difference, even just a few hours a week can change someone’s life.

Join us this National Volunteer Week by attending one of our upcoming volunteer information sessions, available both online and in person, to learn more about becoming a tutor. https://lnkd.in/gtZuqBKe
