Our Italian language students who elected to enter the statewide, annual Dante Alighieri Italian Poetry Competition ventured to The University of Melbourne this morning, to recite the poems they have been learning.
We rounded off the experience by ordering authentic Italian ’dolci’ (sweets) and warm beverages from nearby Brunetti Classico in Lygon Street, after hearing about the café’s humble origins.
Ben fatto! 👏🇮🇹

Today, our College community gathered for a National Sorry Day Assembly, an important opportunity to acknowledge and reflect on the experiences of the Stolen Generations and their ongoing impact.
We thank Kristen Munro, a Santa alumna and proud First Nations woman who shared her personal story with us.
Through learning, truth-telling and reflection, we continue to grow in understanding and strengthen our shared commitment to reconciliation, respect, and justice.

It was so wonderful to welcome some of our shared feeder primary schools to a sneak peak performance of the joint production between Santa and Parade College - of Beauty and the Beast on Tuesday 🥀
From the excited screams, gasps, laughs and applause of our primary school friends, I think we can confidently say, this production is phenomenal!
After a sold out opening night on Wednesday, we wish the cast and crew all the very best for the next 3 sold out shows.

Each student spoke with confidence, passion and insight, sharing thoughtful perspectives on topics ranging from AI in education, to preserving the history of our homes, to the importance of boredom and creativity.
A special congratulations to Anna, who was awarded 3rd place out of 26 competitors on the night — an outstanding achievement! Anna has also been invited to participate in the finals competition, and we wish her the very best!

Today is Education Support Day! an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the incredible staff whose work behind the scenes helps our College community thrive each and every day.
Our Education Support Staff play such an important role in the life of Santa Maria College. Whether they are supporting students in the classroom, caring for wellbeing, maintaining our beautiful grounds, preparing meals, assisting with technology, working in administration, the library, or countless other areas, their contribution is invaluable.
Thank you Support Staff for all that you do!

Generous God, on this Mother’s Day, we honour the women whose love has shaped our lives.
We recognise their vast impact—those sitting beside us, caring from a distance, and those whose spirits rest with you. We thank you for their diverse reflection
of your grace.
We give thanks for those who may not be mothers in the traditional sense, yet who nurture, guide, support and care for others with deep generosity and love.
May we recognise and honour the many ways maternal care is shared within our community.
We look to Mary, the first disciple, as our model. Her courageous and unconditional ‘yes’ changed everything. We pray that like Mary, we may
embody trust, care for the vulnerable, and love without limits.
For all mothers, living and departed, may your peace surround them, and may their legacy continue to bear the fruits of love and kindness.
