🟤 More than just football 🟤
For premiership vice-captain James Shadbolt (‘24), playing at the Old Ivanhoe Grammarians Football Club has delivered some of the best football of his life but the impact goes well beyond what happens on game day. He highlights the opportunities that come through being part of the club, from professional connections to real-world experience, with players securing internships through university and others, including James and premiership captain Marcus Walling (‘24), scoring part-time opportunities through the club.

It’s another example of how OIGFC supports its players both on and off the field, reinforcing the values of community, development and connection that sit at the heart of the Old Ivanhoe Grammarians Association.

🎙️ Hear the full conversation with James, Marcus and Head Coach Brad Shadbolt (‘93) on The Ego Yah, as they reflect on the 2025 premiership season and life after school at OIGFC.

🟤 Looking back, moving forward 🟤
Picking up where his father left off, premiership vice-captain James Shadbolt (‘24) reflects on how joining the Old Ivanhoe Grammarians Football Club after Year 12 felt like a seamless continuation of school life, playing alongside the same mates, representing the same values and culture that shaped him at Ivanhoe.

It’s a feeling that creates real pride in pulling on the jumper.

Premiership captain Marcus Walling (‘24) agrees, sharing that the connection runs deep. From the rivalries to the traditions, you still feel like you’re running out as part of the ‘first 18's’, and that sense of competition and community is what makes OIGFC so special.

🎙️ Hear more from James, Marcus and Head Coach Brad Shadbolt (‘93) on The Ego Yah, the Old Ivanhoe Grammarians Association podcast, as they unpack the 2025 premiership season and life beyond school at OIGFC.

🟤 Behind the curtains of the OIGFC 🟤
Brad Shadbolt (‘93), Head Coach of the Under 19 Old Ivanhoe Grammarians Football Club, shares what truly sets the club apart; the social connection. For many players, OIGFC is a natural extension of school life, giving them the chance to pull on the jumper alongside the same mates they grew up with at Ivanhoe. As both coach and parent to premiership player James Shadbolt (‘24), Brad reflects on why there’s no better environment to transition from school into community football.

🎙️ Also joining the episode are premiership captain Marcus Walling (‘24) and vice-captain James Shadbolt (‘24), as we unpack the journey to the 2025 premiership and what makes the club such a special part of the Old Ivanhoe Grammarians Association community.
