Ivanhoe Grammar School’s Senior Libraries were in full swing celebrating the Children’s Book Council of Australia’s (CBCA) ‘Book Week’.

Leaning into the CBCA’s 2026 theme ‘Symphony of Stories’, students and staff were encouraged to participate in the variety of activities, events and competitions on offer.

Winners of Ridgeway Campus flash fiction writing, book reviewing and bookmark designing competitions were announced.

Bestselling and award-winning Australian Young Adult author Lili Wilkinson spent a lunchtime talking books with members of the ‘Hooked on Books’ book club; and all Year 7 students were treated to an afternoon of storytelling by her as well.

A books-movie-soundtrack lunchtime Kahoot quiz brought out our students’ competitive spirit.

To round off the week, continuing with the book-movie-soundtrack idea, students in our Performing Arts faculty performed a ‘Live in the Library’ lunchtime concert to a very appreciative audience.

Another great Book Week with lots of fun and involvement by our Ivanhoe Learners!

Today's Father's Day Breakfast was a wonderful opportunity for students and their dads, grandfathers and special father figures to spend time together and create lasting memories.

As we look ahead to Father's Day this Sunday, we take a moment to recognise and thank all the fathers and father figures who support, encourage and inspire our young people each day.

Our Snowsports Team delivered an outstanding performance at the 2026 Victorian Interschools Snowsports Championships, with 38 students competing at Mt Buller and helping Ivanhoe claim 3rd place in Victoria. Facing everything from sunshine to fog, wind and challenging conditions, our students showed resilience and determination across skiing and snowboarding disciplines, competing against more than 200 schools from across Victoria.

Highlights included podium finishes for Julian and a 3rd-place team result in Division 3 Boys Ski Cross. Strong performances across all events contributed to Ivanhoe Grammar School finishing 3rd in the State Co-Ed Secondary School standings.

Congratulations to all competitors, families and staff involved, and best of luck to the 11 students now representing Ivanhoe at the National Championships in Perisher.

Over the past six months, Plenty Campus students Andy, Jackson and Sophia have participated in the GALESS TiltShift Challenge, a global research initiative that engages students in academic research and international collaboration.

As part of the program, the students investigated how perceptions of the military are influenced by the presence of a military family member within the Ivanhoe Grammar School Plenty Campus community. Their research culminated in a formal academic paper and presentation at the GALESS Research Conference, hosted this year at our Plenty Campus, Camberwell Grammar School and Camberwell Girls Grammar School.

The conference brought together students from Australia, Indonesia, Poland and Singapore to share research, hear from keynote speakers and engage in intercultural learning experiences. The opening evening at Plenty Campus also featured a Circle Time led by Coree Thorpe, a Plenty Campus parent and School Artist, who shared Indigenous perspectives and spoke about the importance of dialogue in our ongoing reconciliation journey.

Reflecting on the experience, Andy said, “My favourite part of this conference was connecting with students from all around the world. I would highly encourage anyone who is interested to participate in this fantastic program.”

Congratulations to our students on their commitment, curiosity and thoughtful contribution to this international research initiative.

Our Golden Orchestra recently welcomed acclaimed Australian conductor Ben Northey to a rehearsal at Ivanhoe Grammar School.

Students gained invaluable insights as they prepared for performances, exploring ensemble balance, musical communication and the attentiveness required of high-level orchestral musicians.

We are delighted to share that alumna Rosie Pettenon ('22) has generously donated one of her landscape oil paintings to be raffled as part of the Ridgeway Campus Years 7-11 Art & Design Exhibition.

Funds raised through the raffle will support the School's 2026 Artist in Residence Program, providing students with valuable opportunities to learn from practising artists. Rosie's painting will be exhibited in the mezzanine alongside student artwork throughout the exhibition.

A visual artist working across oil painting and sculpture, Rosie draws inspiration from the Australian landscape, capturing its vibrant colours through scenes of sunsets, farms, paddocks and gum trees. A graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts (2025), she continues to build a distinguished artistic career, with a series of ceramic works set to be exhibited at Gasworks Arts Park later this year.

Tickets: $10 per entry, or 4 tickets for $30
Raffle winner announced: 18 September 2026
