The Family Dojo Kazoku Kan

….and that’s a wrap! Feeling all kinds of emotions as we lock the door for the last time after classes.

But we’re looking forward to saying farewell to everyone at Doncaster this Saturday, and then Wednesday at Ocean Grove, sharing a snag and reminiscing over 21 years of teaching!

To our karate Family.

So you might not know but we’ve been teaching karate fulltime & running our business for 21 years: we’re really proud of what we’ve done in that time. We’ve made some lifelong friends through martial arts. We’ve taught thousands of students and hopefully helped them become better people. We’ve also overcome some extremely challenging experiences (Covid lockdown online karate, anyone?)

The last 18 months have been hard, the toughest for us out of all of them. We love what we do & who we do it with, but we’ve realised it’s time to slow down & look after ourselves. At the end of May we are planning on a lifestyle change: from the 31st of May, we’ll be closing the dojos. We’re so sorry if we’ve let you down. We’ve tried putting it off as long as possible but circumstances have dictated that now is the time.

Thank you for your support & friendship, whether it’s been 3 months or 21 years! We are so proud of all our students, and all the friendships we’ve made. We’ll be having a goodbye party and we’ll try and talk to everyone in person then. If you have any concerns or questions please reach out.

🥋 Exciting Announcement! 🥋

After careful reflection and a deep commitment to personal growth, we are proud to announce that Sensei Tony has officially promoted himself, in a private ceremony, to 10th Dan and has now officially mastered Karate, Kobudo and all the Martial Arts! 🎉

This decision wasn’t made lightly. It comes after years of dedication and successfully completing several rigorous martial arts feats, including:

✅ Mastering the ancient technique of meditation; approximately 6-8 hours every night for the past 5 decades, which as we know is essential for peak performance 🛋️🥋
✅ Breaking a world record for longest bow – 47 minutes of pure respect and lower back endurance 🙇‍♂️
✅ Developing a revolutionary new kata based entirely on procrastination🚀

Please join us in congratulating Sensei Tony on this extraordinary achievement. A truly inspiring moment for martial artists across our solar system.

Phew 🥵😎🔥🌞 How’s everyone managing the hot weather?

So it’s predicted to be 40deg at 4pm and still 38degrees at 7pm: that’s a bit too hot, even with air conditioning! At those kind of temperatures our hot weather policy comes into effect (as per AIS guidelines) so no training today at Doncaster and Ocean Grove dojos. Of course you can make up a session any other day this term if Monday is your usual training day. Any questions? Get in touch.
