Bundoora Secondary College

Bundoora Secondary College At Bundoora Secondary College, 'traditional' is out the window. We've taken a contemporary approach

Our learning design is student-led and personalised through a rigorous yet flexible structure for Inquiry. The notion of letting students drive their own learning by giving them the ‘steering wheel’ for their own pathway is central to the teaching and learning program at BSC. We actively promote the idea that students should ‘Take Control’ of their learning. Rather than students being made to fit

in with the curriculum, subjects are designed to cater for student interests, passions and strengths.

Another history making moment! For the first time ever, Bundoora Secondary College students participated in the Victorian State School Spectacular, alongside nearly 3,000 students statewide. Guided by BSC alumnus Hara Papoulias, our dancers spent the year learning seven routines and they worked at this each week! They then took on two high-intensity rehearsal days at John Cain Arena. Their dedication paid off in two outstanding performances on Saturday, August 29th, where they demonstrated inspiring maturity and resilience. Huge congratulations to our extraordinary performers, we're very proud of you! Mark your calendars: the Victorian State School Spectacular airs on Channel 7 on December 18th, 2026.

Last week, our REACH (high ability acceleration) students recently had the opportunity to attend the STEAM Futures Conference 2026 at Viewbank College, exploring how emerging technologies ~ particularly AI ~ are shaping the future of learning, careers and the workforce.

The day kicked off with a keynote from Dr Leon Furze, exploring AI and Large Language Models and what the changing world of work could mean for today's students.
From there, students got hands-on with a range of workshops, presentations and panel discussions, connecting with people working across AI and STEAM industries. Workshops included Dolphin Discovery, Tiny Satellites and Arduino/Micro:bit controllers, with plenty of opportunities to explore technologies in action.
The day also featured a live technology-inspired fashion show, showcasing student-designed outfits incorporating new technologies.

A great opportunity for our students to explore emerging technologies, connect with industry and start thinking about the pathways of the future.

Many thanks to Colin Brooks MP for accepting our School Captains’ invitation to come and see what we've been up to at Bundoora Secondary College.

It was a great opportunity to show around and talk about how our Stage One funding has helped us create and improve spaces that make a real difference to our students and learning programs.

We're hopeful of securing Stage Two funding in the near future and really appreciate Colin taking the time to visit and his continued support of Bundoora Secondary College.

Students from our Core Plus and VCE Drama classes got the fantastic opportunity last week to attend Art Centre Melbourne for a performance of Animal Farm, by the award-winning Bloomshed Productions.
Having been studying the classic George Orwell novel in class this term, this was a great opportunity to see the text reimagined and brought to life in a world class venue. Students laughed, gasped and even shed a few tears on what was a great day out.

Last week, students in our Tradie Training class headed to the RMIT Trades Innovation Centre to explore construction trades and career pathways through a hands-on electrotechnology workshop.

The experience gave students the opportunity to get a taste of the industry, learn about different trades and discover the range of pathways available within construction and electrotechnology.

At BSC, we’re focused on creating real-world experiences that inspire students to explore different pathways, discover their interests and see where their learning could take them.

History was made this week as Bundoora Secondary College students took to the field, for the U14 Cam Smith North Gala Day, with our first rugby league team in more than 20 years!
The students chose their own team name, The Bundoora Beasts, and played four games against Craigieburn Secondary College. While the Beasts didn't come away with a win, they crossed the try line three times and, more importantly, had a fantastic day learning a new sport, building teamwork and giving it their all.

A huge congratulations to The Bundoora Beasts on representing BSC and bringing rugby league back to the College!

In our Makerspace, every tool and every student has a unique role. Together, they are transforming raw materials into extraordinary achievements.
Our Woodworking and Furniture Making students are currently designing and crafting custom timber coffee tables with acrylic inserts. From measuring, clamping and drilling to sanding and assembling, students are developing technical skills while bringing their designs to life.
At BSC, learning is purposeful, authentic and connected to real-world skills. Every project builds confidence, develops craftsmanship and encourages students to take pride in creating something they can call their own.

Creating the Next Generation of Changemakers!

As part of the Entrepreneur Schools Program, 35 Bundoora Secondary College students have spent the past two days participating in the Impact Boss Program.

Working in teams, students identified real-world challenges within their school and community before developing innovative solutions with a positive social impact. Along the way, they strengthened their leadership, creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking skills.

At BSC, we believe innovation happens when individual strengths create collective momentum—where the hand creates what the mind conceives, and the bridge connects where learning goes. Programs like this empower students to think big, take initiative, and see themselves as future entrepreneurs and changemakers.

We can't wait to see where their ideas lead!

World's Greatest Shave

💙✂️ World’s Greatest Shave @ BSC – We Need Your Help! ✂️💙
Our Student Leaders are excited to be hosting a whole-school fundraising event in support of the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave — Monday 11th of May will see some very brave students (and teachers) taking part in cuts, colours and shaves - and things are about to get very interesting…
If we hit of $3,500:👉 Brian will be rocking bright blue hair👉 Travis (already freshly shaved!) will be sporting a wig for the day
Yes… you read that right

We’re aiming for $3,000, and we’re close, but honestly… why stop there? Every dollar raised supports families impacted by blood cancer and helps fund life-saving research. Let’s come together as a community, have a bit of fun, and support an incredible cause 💙
