This Sunday is the shortest day of the year! The winter solstice.

The winter solstice marks a significant turning point in the Wurundjeri seasonal calendar, signaling the height of Waring (Wombat Season).

Waring is the longest season, lasting from April to late July/early August. It's the coldest and wettest season, with misty mornings, high rainfall and low temperatures.

So make sure you rug up next time you visit the Sanctuary!

Thank you to everyone that joined us on our soggy planting day in the Nangak Tamboree eco corridor. These plants will assist with stabilising the riparian zone of this wetland and provide habitat for many of our local species.

Keep an eye out on our socials for our next planting day! 🌱
