The young newcomer beating the old champ... seem familiar?
Last night’s Australian Open final was more than history in the making, it was a solid reminder of something I've seen play out in sales teams for years.
All of you Sales Leaders out there know what I'm talking about...
I’ve watched new blood enter teams and completely shift what “good” looks like. They bring a higher level of hunger, curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to try what the old guard never considered. Meanwhile, some seasoned pros stay stuck in the same patterns and potentially bad habits picked up over the years.
But here’s the truth, I've also learned that Old Dogs absolutely can learn new Tricks. The ones who stay relevant are the ones who stay coachable, stay curious, and stay open.
Experience matters. Hunger matters. But the magic happens when both generations learn from each other... the wisdom of the past gifted to the new and the fresh energy of the newcomers reigniting the spark in the old.

The game evolves. The best players evolve with it.

It’s that time of year, business reopens, back to work…
Are those past commitments coming back to haunt you? When you say “Circle Back” it’s the same as “hitting the snooze button”.
While you’re trying to catch up on the workload, get into the groove again, you have an all these requests coming at you. “The alarm” keeps ringing and interrupting your flow.
Up to you to now hit the STOP button. Stop with the vague responses and give them a direct answer. “Yes, let’s book in a meeting or next steps” or “No, this is not a priority right now, please park this for x amount of time”

Back to reality….
I’m feeling excited with the first of my 2026 training facilitation kicking off today.
With a couple of weeks filled with Family, Fun and a bit too much Food it’s weird to look at a normal looking calendar.
Anyone else have that feeling in the Christmas and New Year break when you calendar feels like this? In a constant state of “Wait, what day is it?”

I often look to sports for my analogies and metaphors when training. Be it , , or , we can look both ways for inspiration.
Madge stepping in as coach for the Men's team and transforming the culture within one season... Not only through his heavy training regime, but his deep understanding of the team as individuals and humans. Walsh spoke of the genuine care Madge shows everyone within the club, building the belief they all needed to become winners.
Scott Prince, coach of the Women's team saying “I had the confidence in them that they can give themselves another opportunity. All that training, all that stress, was for this game”

I am amazed by the fun things I find in some offices these days.
I was facilitating a Dynamo Selling training workshop for a client on the Gold Coast last week, where they have racing simulators and a massive inspirational sporting mural.
I'm interested to know what else is out there...
