Have you had a chance to look through our Play Journals?
They are quickly filling up with children's stories, ideas, feelings, reflections, creations, and play experiences from across the term. The journals have become a valuable way for us to capture and celebrate the everyday moments that matter to children. Rather than documenting activities we plan in advance, they allow us to make children's voices, interests, and experiences visible as they happen.
We have been incredibly pleased with how this change has impacted our service. The journals are helping us to better reflect the spontaneous and child-led nature of our program, while providing children with opportunities to revisit their play, share their thinking, and contribute to the story of our community.

After such great professional development opportunities over the last few weeks, we are so excited to be the venue to host Daniel Burton & Angus and chat about TIME.
Join Daniel & Angus for this new and exciting collaboration!
Daniel has come all the way from WA for this one so don't miss out!
Time is one of the most powerful, and most overlooked, tools in educational settings. We timetable it, measure it, divide it, and fill it. But how often do we truly examine how our use of time shapes children’s play?
This thought-provoking professional development session invites educators to critically reflect on the way “time” operates in their environments. Together we will explore questions such as:
Do our schedules protect play, or interrupt it?
❓️What happens to deep engagement when transitions are rushed?
❓️How does adult urgency influence children’s creativity, collaboration, and risk-taking?
❓️Are we managing time, or is time managing us?
Through discussion, reflection, and practical strategies, participants will challenge inherited assumptions about productivity, routines, and structure. We will consider how slowing down, extending uninterrupted play periods, and rethinking transitions can create richer, more meaningful play experiences.
This session is designed to stretch thinking, spark professional dialogue, and empower educators to use time intentionally — not as a constraint, but as a catalyst for play.
Because sometimes the most radical thing we can offer children… is time.

Over this past weekend, Ellie, Lizzie, Akiko and Lauren attended the Playwork Gathering. It was a wonderful opportunity to build connections with other playworkers across different sectors, while reflecting on practices, ideas, and the many ways we support children’s play.
One of our key takeaways from the weekend was that we do not need to have all the right answers all of the time. Instead, it is important to reflect, remain open to learning, and come back to conversations with our team or the children later on. Thoughtful reflection and collaboration are such important parts of our practice, and we are excited to continue bringing new ideas back into our space.

Last night some of our team attended professional development presented by Marc Armitage at Play around low interaction, high intervention within playwork practice.
A common misconception about the playwork approach is that we simply “do nothing”, which is of course far from the truth. It was really valuable to explore the different styles of intervention, how and when they might be used, and how we can support and maintain children’s play experiences without unnecessarily interrupting them.
These kinds of conversations are such an important reminder of the intentionality behind playwork and the ongoing reflection involved in supporting children’s play in meaningful ways.
Thanks for hosting Adeona Coorparoo ❤️

Within My Time, Our Place, educators are encouraged to support children and young people in becoming accountable for a sustainable future, while promoting an understanding of their responsibility to care for the environment.
Recently, some of our Prep children took on the important task of weeding and trimming one of the hedges near our front gate. Having the opportunity to use the rake and blower was incredibly exciting, and the children approached the experience with great care and enthusiasm. As they gardened, they were mindful to look out for insects and other creatures so they wouldn’t disturb them.
Whether the motivation was the gardening itself or the excitement of using the tools (perhaps a little of both!), it was such a rewarding and meaningful experience for the children to contribute to caring for our environment and community space.
That feeling when you see sun for the first time this week!
