Hands Down Tribe A healthy planet starts with happy kids playfully engaged with mother nature. Come find out more!

Hi, I'm Tamsin Scott, a landscape architect, artist, grandmother and all round nature lover. Inspired by the global 'nature connect' movement, I support parents and early childhood educators to raise healthy "natured kids" through design of natural playspaces and creative nature play learning programs in the outdoors.

MAPPING PLAY
Cambridge Playlaws has this great initiative of mapping personal experiences of child's play around Cambridge (UK) and making plaques to record the event. Interesting to see how play has changed (and declined) over the years. We need more haybales to play on!
Check it out at https://cambridgeplaylaws.fun/playmap/plaque3/

WHERE ARE THEY?
I've been pounding the pavement in my local area delivering flyers for a backyard project. It's been in late afternoon, and I haven't seen or heard a single child. But I know some houses have children by the tell-tale signs of a swing, tricycle or toys scattered around. I can only assume they are indoors, probably on screens.

We have a crisis that needs attention! Our children are virtual prisoners - they need to be outside, preferably in the neighbourhood, street or garden, playing with friends.

What is stopping them? And what can we do to remedy this situation? Please comment!

PARTY OF ONE 🍷
When no-one turns up for the Christmas Webinar Live, it's time to hit the booze - alone! I won't take it personally, the crazy season has begun. I'll save the tinsel for next year...

PLAYING WITH FIRE
This is my first ever 'Facebook Live' about introducing fire to your play space. You will also learn how I nearly burnt down our new house (an old timber church) - before I knew better!!!
Let me know in the comments if your children have a fireplace in the garden.

The impact of having loose parts to play with, versus not having them during school break times is explained in this State School interview with a student during Box Week. Have a listen!
