Blaming salt for high blood pressure misses the point. Yes, salt affects fluid balance and is essential to maintain normal blood pressure—but the real issue for most people with hypertension isn’t salt, it’s insulin. Your kidneys have insulin receptors that regulate how much sodium they reabsorb from the urine back into the bloodstream. When insulin levels are high—like in insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes—your kidneys hold onto more sodium and water. This leads to increased blood volume and higher blood pressure. This mechanism has nothing to do with how much salt you’re eating. The root cause is too much insulin, driven by too much sugar and starch. So if you’re struggling with high blood pressure, the answer isn’t to cut salt—it’s to cut carbs. Restricting salt might reduce blood pressure slightly in some people, but restricting carbs targets the real driver: metabolic dysfunction. Fix insulin. I had the most expansive conversation with Emily from @rhodeislandpelvicwellness last week—and it lit me up all over again about why I love collaborating with providers like her (and Olivia, too!) who truly understand the depth of what women go through. Because let’s be real— 
Women carry so much.
Hormonal shifts, emotional load, chronic tension, nervous system dysregulation, depletion… and yet, we’re expected to push through like it’s normal. We hold it in our jaws.

In the subtle bracing patterns we don’t even notice until pain shows up. And behind that pain?

This decision was based on a 2020 safety assessment by the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), which suggested that ashwagandha could disrupt hormonal functions and induce abortions.
