📢7,472 voices for Arts education 📢

We have now received a formal response from the Minister for Education, the Hon Jason Clare MP, to our petition calling for a national inquiry into Arts education and training.

While this isn’t the outcome we had hoped for, the petition has helped raise awareness of the challenges facing Arts education in Australian schools and universities.

That matters. And it is a win.

Most importantly, 7,472 Australians added their names to this call, sending a powerful message that Arts education matters and that its future deserves national attention.

Thank you to everyone who signed, shared and supported the petition.

Without a parliamentary inquiry, our work continues. NAAE will keep advocating for other ways to advance Arts education nationally at this critical time.

The conversation continues.

Drama Queensland is thrilled to see the return of the Logan Drama Festival, this Wednesday night at the Kingston Butter Factory.

The festival provides students with the invaluable opportunity to perform in a professional theatre environment, connect with peers from other schools, and engage with industry professionals.

We particularly love the new Positive Postcards initiative, which encourages students to celebrate and acknowledge each other's contributions, fostering a supportive and inclusive theatre community.

Congratulations to coordinator Kathryn Stephan and the teachers, artists, and students from Mabel Park, Marsden, Loganlea, Browns Plains and Kingston state high schools whose dedication continues to strengthen drama education and create meaningful performance opportunities for young people across Logan.

Last Wednesday, Drama Queensland’s Theatre Club enjoyed an exciting Death of a Salesman event thanks to our wonderful industry partners, QPAC 🎭

Our lucky members enjoyed an exclusive pre-show Q&A with Therèsa Borg, Associate Director of Death of a Salesman before enjoying Arthur Miller’s classic directed by Neil Armfield and starring Anthony Lapaglia. The Drama team are repeating the Drama external assessment—2026 and beyond: Curriculum conversation webinar and Making judgments in Drama (2025) for IA1: Performance webinar, for those who were not able to attend the previous sessions. In addition to these repeated sessions, QCAA are running a Making judgments in Drama for Drama IA2: Dramatic concept, as part of the professional learning series across all general subjects.
