Caroline Strainig here, the owner of CLEAR Dog Training. I'm happy to say our revamped website is growing all the time, and while I am obviously biased because I have done all the work myself, I love it. Not only is it a warm, friendly introduction to the services we offer, but it is building into a useful resource for dog owners.

I've been working hard on the new Training Tips section, and I'm delighted to say there's now a comprehensive selection of articles. These cover all the common issues we work with daily, from teaching your puppy to settle during the day to barking and toilet training, reactivity, puppy biting, loose-lead walking - you name it, you'll find it. And if there is a topic we have missed that you would love some advice on, just message us, and we'll add it to our to-do list.

Do your dogs play musical chairs with their favourite place to lounge?

They certainly do at CLEAR owner Caroline Strainig’s place. Adam’s favourite bed is where young Blink has decided to claim squatter’s rights.

It’s first come, first served… unless they can squeeze in together!

Blink (on left) is only six months old, and as you can see, this arrangement isn’t going to work much longer. 😂🤣

We all love our dogs, but that doesn’t mean we don’t occasionally do some pretty dumb things. 😄 Sometimes, without even realising it, we reward exactly the behaviour we’re trying to stop — or make training much harder than it needs to be. One of the things we love most about working at CLEAR Dog Training is the variety. From new puppies and teenage dogs to rehomed dogs, mind-your-manners training and more challenging behavioural issues — no two dogs or families are quite the same.

Zazu and Ash were one of those more challenging cases. Ash was a timid rescue dog, while Zazu could be reactive towards other dogs. Things had escalated into serious fights, and the family was having to keep them separated and constantly rotate them through different areas.

With a careful, gradual introduction built around positive experiences, games and walks, things began to change.

And this was the result:

“Caroline was an absolute lifesaver! Before we reached out to her, our two rescue dogs, Zazu and Ash, were struggling — Zazu was quite aggressive, and Ash was extremely shy. They even got into serious fights, and we had to keep them separated, constantly rotating them in different spaces, which was exhausting and stressful.

"With Caroline’s expert guidance and structured approach, we took things slowly — incorporating games, positive moments, and walks — and the results were incredible. Now, they’re the best of friends! Zazu is much gentler with other dogs, and Ash has gained so much confidence, happily playing at the park.

"We’re beyond grateful for the tools Caroline gave us to create this happy bond. Highly recommend her to anyone needing help with their dogs!”

🐾 Getting Ekka-ready… Lockie style

Caroline and Lockie are off to the Ekka on Monday to compete in Agility Dog and Jumping Dog.

Are they expecting to win? Absolutely not. 😂

Caroline isn’t as young as she once was, and running at the speed of light to keep up with Lockie can be a bit of a challenge these days.

Luckily, Lockie is a gentleman. He waits for her. ❤️

And he LOVES agility. He was bred for it, his dad and family are agility dogs, and Lockie thinks this new game is one of Mum’s better ideas.

So Monday is about having fun and getting around the course together — however slow and sedate the human half of the team might be.

But first:

🛁 “Lockie, you’re going to the Ekka on Monday. You need a bath.”

Bath completed. Beautifully clean. Fluffy white ruff. Looking very smart.

Mum put him outside to dry.

Lockie promptly found the one patch of dirt in the entire yard… and rolled in it. 🤦‍♀️

Perhaps he’d heard there would be lots of beautifully groomed show dogs at the Ekka and wanted to make absolutely certain there was no confusion.

🐾 “I’m an agility dog, Mum. We don’t do pretty.”

He came back looking enormously pleased with himself.

Two sleeps to go.

Possibly two baths. 🛁😂

One ear up… one ear down…

Tomorrow? Your guess is as good as mine!

Every day brings a new ear arrangement for 14-week-old Koolie pup Blink, the latest addition to the CLEAR Dog Training team.

Sometimes you’d be forgiven for thinking her ears are holding a daily meeting.

Left ear: “I’ll be in charge today.”

Right ear: “Nah… I’m taking the day off.”

Blink doesn’t seem the slightest bit concerned. She’s far too busy learning, exploring, stealing hearts and discovering that the world is one big adventure.

The ears will sort themselves out eventually… but for now, we’re thoroughly enjoying the daily comedy show. ❤️🐾

Real progress comes from persistence, not perfection. Small improvements add up to big results.

Success isn't an accident.

Every well-trained dog starts with a clear plan, regular practice and an owner who sticks with it. Small, consistent efforts really do add up to big results.

Somebody has very strong opinions about winter… ❄️😂

Puppy Blink has decided this cold, rainy weather is completely unacceptable. Her solution? She stole the big, soft, cosy throw from the lounge, dragged it all the way across the room to her favourite spot, and promptly curled up on it like she’d paid for it. 🛋️🐶

Yesterday, when the blanket was out of reach, she simply wandered into the bedroom, found a suitable replacement, and dragged that out instead. 🤦‍♀️😂

At just 13 weeks old, this cheeky little Koolie already knows exactly what she wants—and apparently, it’s maximum comfort! I have a feeling she’s going to keep us laughing at CLEAR Dog Training for a very long time. ❤️
