Life Is Cool
Great to catch up with Cameron Carr from Perception Performance again.
What a funny old journey we have had together.
I taught Cameron a lifetime or two ago when he was in Year 4. He used to turn up to school in his rugby league shorts and bare feet - he wasn’t much of a talker back then - he was as more “action oriented” and ran around most of the lunch hour.
Fast forward over 20 years when I was working with AIS athletes, I rocked up to meet the Queensland members of the Australian Wheelchair Rugby Team and there was a familiar face to greet me!
He got me up to speed about his accident when he was 19 - a week before leaving for a NRL preseason camp with the Sydney Roosters and about how he navigated his way back to elite sport as a Paralympian.
He has achieved so much including two gold and a silver medal at the Paralympics, degrees is psychology/exercise physiology, Masters in Leadership, Executive Coaching.
Using his background in sport, the resources industry, and workplace safety, he is now delivering leadership and team development programs in his own unique way.
Definitely give Cameron a call if you want to some leadership/team development. He is a very good egg. Some say his success can be traced back to his Year 4 teacher.
Obviously, he is a little more vocal now. 😆

Nature at it Again
The last few mornings have been on point Mother Nature. My images don’t capture the majesty. The moon was full and there was an orb captured next to it today. Wonder who is watching over me? Nice.
The usual start this morning with my partner … movement, meditation and a quick game of backgammon. I’m on a roll there!

These remarks came from a client I just finished working with.
Change doesn't have to be hard. It doesn't have to feel like "work".
There are often misconceptions about coaching. Often people expect you to tell them what's wrong with them or what they are doing wrong. They think changing the way they think or going for there goals is going to be painful. That you are going to make them do things they know they should but they are resisting.
Those ideas can stop people from engaging in the empowering process that is coaching (the way I do it anyway). For a start, even if it currently feels like it, there is nothing "wrong" with you. You may be directing your focus and energy to things you would rather not, but that is ok. It is just where you are starting.
When we start by understanding that the process is more of a stripping back of what you have learnt, starting from a clean slate and then rebuilding from the essence and truth of who you have always been, the resistance falls away. You do what is then obvious and it is just the next step.
You don't necessarily need huge epiphanies (although that can happen). It sometimes is more a case of "tweaking" your way forward with new daily habits that create different outcomes.
If you are trying to make changes and struggling, I totally support the idea of giving up the struggle. If you feel like you are struggling, its usually because you are focussed more on the struggle and what you think you are missing out on.
What if you focussed on what you are creating instead of the struggle? Then today would just be another day in the process of life.
Just stop. Breathe. Relax. Decide on what you want to experience and take the next little step.
