Proof that photos can lie π
This was taken after what felt like a shocker of a day at the State Long Course Championships yesterday π
I had hopes of swimming a good LC 200 backstroke time, after doing some good times at SC Nationals recently. Instead, I swam quite a lot slower. And boy did it hurt π
Not exactly the times β±οΈ I had in mind. But thatβs sport πββοΈ
Some days youβre rapt with a swim and everything goes right. Some days youβre standing on pool deck wondering where those extra few seconds came from π
The important thing I am reminding myself, is not to confuse one disappointing result with the bigger picture π
Six weeks ago I had a great Nationals campaign. Yesterday was a reminder that I still have work to do.
So Iβll rest, reset and get back to chasing that Budapest β27 dream.

Torpedo Swimtalk is evolving π
What started as a podcast during Melbourne lockdown has gradually grown into something bigger - a space for swimming stories, performance ideas, featured interviews and conversations from across the masters swimming world π
Over the past few weeks Iβve been refreshing the website and building a new βNewsroomβ section featuring long-form articles, opinion pieces, training insights and deeper storytelling from Masters swimmers to Olympians πββοΈ
The podcast remains at the heart of everything, with more to come in that area soon π€ π§
But this feels like the next step π
The new newsroom is now live, including the first feature article:
βThe Cameron McEvoy Effect: Why Sprinters Are Training Less and Swimming Faster.β
