SISTA Shoutout to the work and attitudes of Stephanie Kwolek ππ Inventor of life-saving chemicals and fan of fashion design (yes, you can be both) π©βπ¬π
Inspired by her seamstress mother, Stephanie often claimed her creative side made her a better chemist, inspiring her to try the new techniques which led to her discovery of the super fiber Kevlar.

In recent discussions with a SISTA Project partner school, I was shocked by a story - a female primary school student had earnestly told her teacher, "I don't need to know science" π«’π²π€―
πHere are a few reasons... just to start πhttps://www.linkedin.com/pulse/enhancing-stem-skills-empower-everyday-sistaprojectau
I am still dumbstruck to think about it a week later... There are SO MANY reasons why EVERY person would benefit from scientific thinking!!! Regardless of whether you're an astronaut π©βπ, a cook π¨βπ³, an electrician π©βπ§, a dancer πΊ or a stay-at-home mumπ€°. Educators, we offer evidence-based ammunition to fight unconscious bias like this with our LinkedIn article 'Enhancing STEM Skills to Empower the Everyday'.
Go forth and inspire that little girl to lead the next generation of problem solvers!!
Enhancing STEM Skills to Empower the Everyday
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) skills are not limited to the realms of academia, laboratories and job titles; they have a profound impact on our everyday lives as much as they play a pivotal role in shaping successful careers. But don't take our word for it.

In celebration of the Cancer Council Queensland's Biggest Morning Tea, our science educators applied their STEM skills in the kitchen to create these goodies π°πͺ Baking is more than just combining tasty ingredients β it's a complex, scientific process that requires the understanding of basic concepts like measurement, heat transfer and chemical reactions.
It's delicious proof that science is everywhere around us and a perfect excuse to fundraise for a good cause.
It's not too late to host a in your school or office to raise funds for life-saving cancer research, cancer prevention education or support for families fighting those nasty proliferating cells π¦ π¦ π¦
Register for an event soon (it doesn't have to be today) and go get yo' bake-on! π©βπ³
