A tremendous achievement from Orielle Michaelis-Thorpe (Eagle Junction State School Class of 2020). We can’t wait to hear how Orielle performs in the World Climbing Youth Championships in Arco, Italy (18-25 July 2026). Recognized globally as the "climbing capital of Italy", the Arco Climbing Stadium will host over 600 of the world's best young athletes from more than 50 nations. 🇮🇹🇦🇺💚💛

What an incredible achievement for our Year 12 student Orielle! Competing at the Australian Youth Lead Nationals 2 weeks ago, Orielle stepped up into a new age category at just 16 years old, competing against athletes up to 18 years of age. In an outstanding performance, she was the only female athlete to achieve a Top in the qualifiers, and then did it again in the finals. Orielle is now officially the 2026 Australian Youth Lead Champion and has been selected to represent Australia at the World Youth Championships in Arco, Italy later this year. She is also the only female athlete from Queensland selected in the 2026 Australian Youth Team. As a proud young Aboriginal athlete, Orielle is paving the way for future generations through her determination, courage and talent. We are incredibly proud of you, Orielle! 💛🖤
