🌿 Anise Myrtle
(Syzygium Anisatum)

A tasty and fragrant bush tukker food I'm lucky enough to harvest from my good friends at Eden Bush Foods in Camp Mountain.

This tasty leaf, similar to the well known Lemon Myrtle has a distinct Aniseed taste and aroma. There isn't a lot known about the traditional use of this magnificent sub tropical rainforest tree, however we do know that it was drunk as a tea by Australian First Nations people and early settlers early. It was used medicinally as a tonic that had a vitalising effect.

It is also super high in antioxidants, Vit C, E and contains folate, lutein, zinc, calcium, magnesium and chlorophyll a and b.

🌱So how do you use Anise Myrtle?

πŸ˜‹It can be used in curries, hot pots, combined with oil and used as a dipping with bread, add to stir fry, combine with your favorite protein rich dishes, great in salads and even hot sauce, desserts such as muffins, cakes, icing and anywhere you can imagine an aniseed or licorice like flavour. Most popular as a tea.

πŸ‘ŒπŸ½Once this harvest is dried within the next 2 weeks, I will have 25g pouches available for purchase and you can get creative making delicious dishes at home. Get in touch to secure your pouch today πŸ™πŸ½
