Important Update – Candlelight Vigil

Dear BNC family and community members,

There has been a slight change to our previous plan. Association of Bhutanese in Australia (ABA Sydney) will also be joining us for the Candlelight Vigil in memory of the victims of the devastating floods in Nepal.

Thank you Mayor, for your sensitivity, compassion, and understanding during this difficult time. Your thoughtful gesture has truly touched the hearts of the Nepalese community in Blacktown.
It means so much to us to feel supported and understood, especially when our hearts are heavy. 🙏

The devastation in Nepal is almost impossible to comprehend. Hundreds of people have been killed, many more remain missing and entire communities have been torn apart.
For the many people of Nepalese heritage who call Blacktown City home, this is not a distant tragedy. These are family members, friends, hometowns and familiar places. Many in our community will be desperately waiting for news, grieving loved ones or trying to help from thousands of kilometres away. To our Nepalese community: Blacktown City stands beside you in your grief, your fear and the difficult days ahead.
