Suspended chords are neither happy nor sad—they’re still making up their minds. 🎹
Remove the third from a major or minor chord and replace it with the second or fourth:
Sus2 = 1 – 2 – 5
Sus4 = 1 – 4 – 5
That missing third gives the chord its beautiful, open and slightly unresolved sound.
