📚✨ BOOK WEEK PARADE 2026! ✨📚

What a fantastic way to kick off Book Week! Our students looked incredible as they paraded around in their creative costumes, bringing some of their favourite book characters to life. 🦸‍♀️🧙‍♂️🐭📖

Of course, it wouldn’t be Book Week without our teachers’ annual performance! 🎭 This year, they brought The Gruffalo to life, giving our students plenty of laughs along the way! 🐭🌲👹 A special shoutout to Mr Richards and Mrs Raffaele for their brilliant performances, they certainly stole the show! 👏😂

And the Book Week fun isn’t over yet! We’re looking forward to author visits, daily story times and plenty more opportunities to celebrate the magic of books and reading throughout the week. 📚💫

What a wonderful week to celebrate our love of reading! 💙📖✨

❄️⛷️ SNOW CAMP 2026! 🏔️🎿

Last week, 40 of our Year 4, 5 & 6 students headed to the snow for three action-packed days on the slopes! Across the camp, students completed an impressive six ski sessions, developing their skills, confidence and plenty of great memories along the way. 🙌

There were early starts each morning, with students making the most of every minute and hitting the slopes with our teachers whenever they weren’t in lessons! 🎿❄️

After a few wintry days, Friday turned it on with beautiful blue skies for the perfect final day on the mountain. ☀️🏔️

Snow Camp is always such a special highlight on the Greythorn calendar, and we’re already looking forward to doing it all again next year! 💙❄️

♻️ Rethink, Reuse, Recycle! ♻️

Last Wednesday, our Year 3 students had a fantastic visit from Rethink Recycling and their amazing trailer, RUSTIE! 🚛💚

As part of our Year 3 STEM Chemical Science unit, students have been exploring materials, their properties and how they can be changed, reused and recycled. RUSTIE brought this learning to life in such a fun and hands-on way! 🧪♻️

Students discovered how old bottle caps can be given a whole new life instead of ending up in landfill. They got hands-on sorting bottle caps, learning some fascinating recycling facts, shredding the caps and seeing how recycled plastic can be transformed into something new! 🌏✨

The highlight was melting down just 2.5 bottle caps to create their very own carabiner clip, perfect for keeping their school hat attached to their bag! 🧢🎒

A fantastic morning of hands-on STEM learning that showed our Year 3s just how powerful recycling and reusing materials can be. A huge thank you to Rethink Recycling and RUSTIE for such an engaging experience! ♻️👏💚

✨ Reflecting on a wonderful Term 2 in Year 2! ✨

Our Year 2 students have been busy learning, creating and sharing their knowledge across a range of exciting experiences.

🌙 Students reached for the stars with their Moon Report presentations, confidently showcasing their research, speaking and presentation skills.

🦁 They also became animal experts by researching, writing and presenting informative reports, proudly sharing their learning with classmates, Year 6 buddies and our school leaders.

☀️ In Science, students designed and built solar ovens using pizza boxes, harnessing the Sun’s energy to melt chocolate onto biscuits while exploring solar energy and heat transfer.

We are so proud of the curiosity, creativity and confidence our Year 2 students showed throughout the term! 🌟

🦁🐨🦈 Animal experts in the making!

Our Year 1 students have been busy researching, writing, editing, and publishing information reports on an animal of their choice. From fascinating facts to detailed illustrations, they have worked incredibly hard to create beautiful posters showcasing their learning.

The finished reports are now proudly on display in their classrooms, and we couldn’t be more impressed with the knowledge, creativity, and effort our young authors have shown. Be sure to take a look next time you’re passing by! 📚✨

🚤⚓ Float or sink? Our Prep engineers were on a mission to find out!

As part of STEM, our Prep students explored different materials and their properties before diving into the design process—planning, creating, testing, and improving their very own boats. 🛠️🌊

The excitement reached new heights at our 2026 Prep Boat Exhibition, where families joined us to help put the boats to the ultimate test! There were cheers, smiles, and plenty of problem-solving as students showcased their creativity and learning.

What a fantastic hands-on adventure in science, design, and teamwork! 🚢✨
