Another incredible TMJ therapeutics course wrapped at Dermal Distinction Academy 🧠

One of the things I love most about this course is who walks through the door. This cohort brought together general medical practitioners alongside dentists, and the conversations that come from that mix are genuinely unmatched.

Dentists bring an intimate understanding of the masticatory system, occlusion, and the temporomandibular joint from years in clinical practice. Medical practitioners bring their broader systemic lens. Together, they challenge each other’s thinking, and every single person in the room learns more for it.

Toxin dose matters.

Underdosing may help meet a budget in the moment — but that saving is quickly forgotten when the result is sub-optimal or doesn’t last.

Dose directly influences the degree of muscle relaxation and treatment longevity. Too little can mean less effect, earlier return of movement and shorter-lasting results.

The goal isn’t simply to use fewer units. It’s to use an appropriate dose for the individual patient, muscle strength and treatment goal.

Good treatment is about the right dose, in the right muscle, for the right patient.

How deep should you inject?

JULY 18, 2026: Foundation Botulinum Toxin course. Five practitioners treating five patients. Our focus was technique, balancing facial profile and assessment, consultation and consent.

This group of practitioners travelled from Launceston, Rockhampton, Perth, Atherton and a local from Victoria. Truly honoured to host those that have placed their trust in us and travelled such a long way.

Myth: Dermal fillers stretch your skin.

Reality: When filler is used appropriately, it doesn’t permanently stretch the skin. It is designed to restore support, replace age-related volume loss, and enhance facial balance.

What can cause issues is overfilling or repeated treatment without a clear plan.

The goal isn’t a bigger face—it’s a balanced, natural result that respects your anatomy.

Less is often more. 💉

A fabulous day of private training, treating three full-face patients from consultation through to treatment.

We focused on consultation, consent, complications and facial assessment before moving into botulinum toxin treatment planning and technique.

Lots of “ah-ha!” moments along the way. Especially when we stopped looking at individual lines and started seeing the face as a whole—considering contours, muscle balance and preventative strategies.

Great injecting is about more than where to inject. It’s understanding why.

It is education July! This month we are hosting practitioners from all over Australia over multiple sessions. Starting this Friday, we are covering Foundation Botulinum toxin anatomy, assessment and treatment. Looking forward to kicking off a huge month!
