Happy heavenly birthday to the visionary leader - Dr John Landa Nkomo.
CELEBRATING A GIANT OF OUR LIBERATION — DR JOHN LANDA NKOMO… 🇿🇼🙏🏽
Today, as we commemorate the birthday of my beloved Sekuru, the late former Vice President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Dr John Landa Nkomo, we remember a GIANT OF OUR LIBERATION STRUGGLE, A DISTINGUISHED STATESMAN AND A TRUE PATRIOT whose contribution to Zimbabwe can never be erased from our history.
Sekuru John Nkomo belonged to that extraordinary generation of men and women who sacrificed enormously so that future generations could live in a FREE AND INDEPENDENT ZIMBABWE. His liberation credentials were unquestionable, but beyond the struggle, he dedicated his life to public service, national unity, reconciliation and peace. He carried himself with DIGNITY, HUMILITY AND WISDOM, ultimately rising to serve as Vice President of the Republic of Zimbabwe.
His timeless message, “Peace begins with me, peace begins with you, peace begins with all of us,” perfectly reflected the kind of leader he was. He understood that without PEACE there can be no meaningful development, and without UNITY there can be no strong nation. For me, JOHN LANDA NKOMO IS NOT SIMPLY A NAME IN THE HISTORY BOOKS — he represents PATRIOTISM, SACRIFICE, HUMILITY, UNITY and SERVICE.
In honour of his birthday and in celebration of this remarkable legacy, I am pleased to announce that I will be donating US$250,000 to the John Landa Nkomo Trust towards further development at the school. I will also donate a BRAND-NEW SINGLE-CAB PICK-UP for the Headmaster and a TOYOTA COASTER BUS to complement the 76-seater bus I donated last year.
To further strengthen education and technology at the school, I will also donate 100 DESKTOP COMPUTERS, 50 LAPTOPS AND 50 PRINTERS towards the establishment and development of a STATE-OF-THE-ART COMPUTER LABORATORY. Our children must be equipped with modern technology and given every opportunity to compete in an increasingly digital world. 💻👏🏽
Lastly, I wish to recognise the Chairman of the Trust, Mr Jabulani Nkomo, for his UNMATCHED LEADERSHIP and commitment to preserving and advancing the legacy of my beloved Sekuru. As a personal token of appreciation, I will also give him US$50,000 FOR HIS POCKET and US20 000 for his one and only beautiful wife Busi to get her hair and nails done freely without stressing the CHAIRMAN. Leadership, loyalty and dedication deserve to be acknowledged and appreciated.
