Exciting Parent Workshop Coming Up! 🌿

We are delighted to welcome Sara Fobelets, an experienced educator and trainer with over a decade of international experience, to lead a practical and inspiring workshop for parents.

“Strong Connections – Better Behaviour” is designed to help parents create calmer homes and stronger relationships with their children. The session will explore why connection leads to better behaviour, and how being both kind and firm can encourage cooperation. Parents will gain simple, practical tools to build routines, reduce conflict, and guide behaviour—without relying on shouting, punishments, or rewards.

This workshop is ideal for parents who want to feel more confident, less stressed, and better equipped to raise respectful and responsible children.

Hello Hillcrest,

I hope you have all had an opportunity to rest, reflect, and reset during the holiday.

As we prepare for the new term, I wanted to encourage you as someone walking the same journey of expectations, goals, and growth alongside you.

We are approaching one of the most important periods of the academic year, and what we choose to do now will make a significant difference later. Take time to honestly reflect on last term. Identify the areas where you struggled and begin working on them now. Improvement starts with consistency, even small daily efforts can produce meaningful results.

While rest is important, discipline remains essential. Try to build a healthy routine that keeps you focused without becoming overwhelmed. Even a short period of intentional revision each day can make a major impact once the term begins.

Let us also remain grateful for the opportunities we have and for the sacrifices our parents and guardians continue to make for our education and future. Gratitude and hard work should always go hand in hand.

Most importantly, use this time to reset mentally and spiritually. Through prayer, reflection, or quiet preparation, position yourself to return with clarity, purpose, and renewed energy.

Let us return ready to grow, ready to learn, and ready to give our best.

Stay disciplined. Stay focused. And come back stronger than before.

Tim and Maz Walker : Leadership For Life Course .
Tim and Maz Walker, originally from England, have lived and worked in southern Africa since 2008. They initially started up and ran a project for children impacted by HIV in South Africa for seven years. They now travel the world, sharing the Leadership for Life program with various communities, including schools, churches and even prisons, helping to bring community development via mindset and lifestyle change.

Leadership for Life is a four-module activity-based training program that encourages people to transform their own lives by helping them to release their own amazing potential that lies within each of us.

The four modules build on the fact that without mindset change our lives stay the same, that 'if we change our thinking, we can change our lives'.

Module one focuses on each of us being the leader of our own lives.
Module two helps us to start to lead our money (if we don't lead our money our money leads us).
Module three looks at how we can lead a project, either income-generating, community-based or even personal growth.
Module four is based around being the best version of ourselves within our Teams, be that family, work teams or sports teams.

Tim and Maz have seen hundreds, if not thousands of lives and communities transformed following the delivery of this program and are keen for more people to grow that seed of potential that is often just waiting to be woken up.

Date: 22 May to 24 May
Cost: US$20. Includes a booklet, two lunches and teas (pupils who volunteer to attend this course will not be charged)
Venue: Beit Hall, Hillcrest College
Time: Friday 22nd May at 1400 to Sunday the 24th of May

All members of our Mutare community are welcome to attend this course.

Hillcrest has surrounded me with a community of driven and principled individuals, making it almost impossible not to grow alongside them. Having mentors and peers to look up to has been such an important stepping stone in my journey. They set a high standard that pushes me not only to meet expectations, but to exceed them.

By grounding myself in our values of love, respect, community, perseverance, and resilience, I am learning that true leadership is just as much about character as it is about action.
